Save game system is stupid
I was going to stay silent about it but i have to vent.

The save system after you die is utterly stupid. It gives you 3 options. 2 of which cost you money. The autosave is clearly not what I want half the time. I would like to just open my save files without it costing me additional pain.
So what do I do like I do with all the other DQ games ive played, I reload my old save. I didn't mind in much older DQ games if party members died and I had ot drag their coffins to a priest to revive them and it cost me money. At least I got away with someone to tell the tale.

anyway rant over.

Don't die and it's not a problem I suppose.

I agree the choices are dumb, but that's kind of the point. It's meant to punish the gamer for their failure.

Though the game was so easy I'm not sure how one dies without doing so intentionally.

I don't understand the problem.

It costs half of the money you're currently holding, meaning virtually nothing if you're making use of the bank. And for the low cost of virtually nothing, you get to not lose any progress beyond travel time back to where you died, if you even want to go back there. Getting to keep all of the XP, Items and Quest progression you had when you died is almost too convenient if you ask me...

The game autosaves every time you load into an area, so most of the time that option should be sufficient. Your hard save from before the last autosave would only be more useful if you wasted resources like items in between and want to be more efficient this time around.

When you're not happy with either of those options, you CAN just load your hard saves by going back to the title screen first. I guess having to load the autosave only to go back to the title screen and then load another save might be a hassle, but surely that's not a big deal?

Ill prepared for a fight in draconian mode. Like the lord of shadows. The game sometimes takes luck for you to win even with the best setup. Thats great that some people just never die in this game, but not everyone can be those people.

The issue is, if you want to load an old save after you wipe, it costs you money. SImple as that. I get around it by turning off the game and reloading. I can simply use autosave, but say your in the post game doing the fight against mordegon in the Helidor castle and he has that befuddle attack, if you didn't craft the accessory to combat that it makes the fight harder. There is no way to craft any since your stuck in the castle in that point of the game.

but my post is mostly about venting. Doesn't need to be rational when your frustrated. But this is a legitimate issue. So to each their own if they dont understand.

Idk, seems challenging enough with the draconian quest that makes enemies stronger. Though i guess if you just spend a bunch of time grinding it will still be easy.
