Ideas I've had for the auto-tactic system.
I've always wanted to see new additions to the auto-combat tactic system that they use in Dragon Quest games. Although I highly doubt I will ever see any of my suggestions in this game, it would be cool if they showed up in future DQ releases. Here are a few ideas I had:

1. Item Expert
This is my most wished for tactic. Ever noticed that when tactics like 'Fight Wisely' or 'Focus on Healing' is used, the character will never use one shot items? They have no problem using reusable items like Sage's Stone or a staff, but items like medical herbs often require you to use 'Follow Orders' to force the character to use them. The 'Item Expert' tactic would fix this by prioritizing the use of one shot items over spells AND even reuse items, thus putting your unused inventory to good use. It can have many uses. For example, characters that have no healing powers can still be a healer for as long as they have healing items on their person. Also, this tactic would be a handy alternative to the 'Don't Use MP' tactic because it allows you to save on MP while still giving you some magical capability through healing, support and attack items.

2. Defensive Position
An alternative to the 'Focus on Healing' tactic that is very useful for healers and other weak defense characters. The affected character would defend and not take a risk attacking the enemy. Also, healers and other support characters would use healing and defense skills on the party when needed before going back into a defensive stance. In future DQ games, instead of having counterattack skills in the skill tree, counterattacking should be added to the 'Defensive Position' tactic and become unlocked when a character reaches a certain experience level.

3. Focus on Half Inch
A specialty tactic specifically meant for characters with thieving skills. It will function like the 'Don't Use MP' tactic for non-thief characters. As for the thief character, they will only use their Half Inch ability (if available) and focus on an enemy until they successfully steal from it before moving onto the next enemy. After successfully stealing from all enemies, the thief character will start fighting like if they was set to 'Don't Use MP' tactic.

These are some ideas that I can think of right off the bat. Do you guys have any suggestions for auto tactics that you would like to see in a future DQ release?
