I'm willing to pay for additional content. But I don't want to buy the whole game again.
I can understand such incidents 15 years ago. But now, in the age of digital content distribution, it looks ridiculous.

hah, It's the old trick. Deus Ex, Sleeping Dogs, NieR Automata are just examples.
SE just delete the old version from the shop, and offered no upgrade.

There is an upgrade path. It's called ponying up the $40 they want for the definitive version. Or you can wait for a sale. I suggest waiting for a sale.

Well its SE so yeah. They continue to do their thing. I'm not mad at them. I'll just wait till it goes on sale. Hopefully the modders can clean it up some over time (the definitive edition). In the mean time I should probably finish my draconian play through (damn hard bosses be breaking my spirit).

Can't believe there's no way to aquire this as bonus content... Continue f*cking customers, and all customers gonna crack your games. Or buy it on re sellers as G2A, Instant Gaming, Gamivo.. Don't come complain that you don't get as much as you could...

Glad I'm not the only one who was wondering how people who paid for the game didn't get an upgrade. Gotta love greedy companies.
Swiftstickler Dec 6, 2020 @ 11:41am
It can't just be made into "bonus content" since the game was rebuilt and recoded for a different version of the unreal engine that could run on the switch. In this case it would probably take more money and effort to just make it dlc for the original game. That's not to excuse all the other shady stuff SE has done over time but for this game they did have to rebuild the definitive version.

I have played through the definitive edition demo and the original game for the same block of game play. Taking screenshots along the way and while it is the same game. With screen shots set side by side you can tell it was rebuilt. things arent in the same spot. characters aren't posed the same exact way. It is close but you can see the differences

Oh they can but read my other posts as well. I know folks want to hate on SE for this particular decision but I think knowing the full context is important as well. And like I said. Wait for a sale and then pick it up. I am sure at some point there will be an SE sale in like February and you can pick it up on the cheap.

what a sale???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, you should ignore such piggy behavior as much as possible
Swiftstickler Dec 6, 2020 @ 11:58am
If you already own the game then you aren't missing a whole lot. You are going to get the same ending. Minus a couple loose ends tied up, a native orchestral soundtrack, jp voice acting, some quality of life things, and some nes style gameplay. other than that you still have the full game
Swiftstickler Dec 6, 2020 @ 12:02pm
Piggy behavior? I don't even know what that means. If you don't like the current price then just wait. There is nothing in the definitive version that will change much of the enjoyment of the original. The original game was complete as is.
