I figured it out. Thanks though!
Drop down to the bottom floor, go outside the castle entrance, take the teleporter outside and it brings you to the 4th floor to that segregated area you can't access otherwise, doing this allows you to hit that switch and bring up the platforms.
It's actually the first thing I did when I entered this dungeon as I remembered it from before so I figured, seeing as they give you the option to fall, I might as well start at the bottom and work my way up... worked out well.
Verily, I never said they were the same. Yet the overall layout is. Order/portals be damned. The area is still the same. So once you've explored it, it should not be a forigen area. Seeing you have to do it shortly before the trails as it were.
