I finished the main quest in DQ8. Didn't actually know there was a detailed post-game until months later and by that point I was onto other games. I remember thinking it was just some optional high level dragon fights or something and that I wouldn't be interested.
After finishing it, I would argue that postgame is simply a continuation of the main game, and the twists are in very classic DQ style. If you're having a tough time with the difficulty spike, I would definitely suggest turning off the experience gain Draconian Quest. I played through everything on regular difficulty with minimal grinding until postgame, but if you can't get to about level 70-75, all the new content after the mandatory opening is going to be incredibly difficult.
Damn. It annoys me that the post game is supposed to be so good, yet I can't get into it lol.
Yeah, I'm at level 62 for most characters I think. I don't think I could keep going on Draconian. It's just too much of a grind and trial and error for me at this point. And to be fair, while I've played through a ton of JRPGs, I'm not actually that good at them.
though I didn´t play it through on harder monsters etc because I feelt it just slowed everything down,so that might be part why I haven´t gotten burned out on .
tbh I need to grind a bit now because some of the optional bosses are getting 3 moves per turn and sometimes act TWICE before all my party members have even gotten one move=wipe
Yeah. I enjoy it more on casual baby noob mode.
Everyone's convinced me to power through and finish the third act. I did turn off Stronger Mosnters though. It is just slowing it down too much for me.
