Now the whale, that thing pissed me off because it could only access whale specific zones and not the whole world like airships from the gold age of RPGS.
The whale was a dissapointment too, they could have done the whale travel only spots AND easy travel. But I guess they wanted you to use fast travel that badly. (At least in this game it's free but even if it wasn't most fast travel points are either an inn or a campfire anyway)
Pair that with a stupidly long, uninteruptable animation to get on that damn thing and you got yourself a winner.
I frequently left my desk while the animation played to grab some coffee just to find myself floating in the middle of nowhere over the see since the damn whale moves automatically right after the animation finishes.
Case in point: Flammie in Secret of Mana, you could literally land anywhere.
And I also discovered the "use flute" method by accident while I was checking every important item in the bag lol. I always used Zoom to Havens Above and used the landing circle there.
