Jade's Mom (spoilers)

So as I was doing the sidequests in the Medal King's school.. reading what the teacher said.... did it just imply that Jade's mom was actually a lesbian (or at the very least a switch hitter) and got married to the King of Heliodor because she had to (for her duty)? Bet that would make for one hell of an awkward moment for Jade. I mean.. it didn't get too deep until the whole "My Soul Mate" part so you could have passed it off as "close friends" but, I feel "soul mate" tends to imply something well... deeper than just friendship.

I would have felt that way if not for the mom's letter. Since she basically said "I would stay...except I cannot be selfish any longer and must do what I can for my people. But I will always consider you my soulmate" While the other person was saying how she was furious that the other girl was leaving and said things she didn't mean in spite but, had the unfortunate conclusion of being unable to rectiify that mistake before she passed away.
