Ugh...Why did this have to be turn-based?!
It looked really good in the previews, almost looks like zelda, and great graphics, the characters look fun too. Then the combat started.....

You CANNOT beat Tales of Berseria by button-mashing. It's IMPOSSIBLE.
Sounds like someone didn't ever try Magilou out.

Shame it ends in Version 2 since it was created with the intention of getting players frightened of MMOs to play DQX Online. :silentslime:

I disagree. It was made to preserve a game. As one day DQX online will vanish like so many mmos before it. And yes currently it will I think end at chapter 2 with that expansion coming in 2023. But there is no saying they cant add chapter 3 or 4 later.

The whole mmo shouldnt be made offline but up to a point. As an example FFXI, many would love justthe 75 era game, others 99. No need to add the finail expansion per say or all 119 extra content.

And it does look like DQX offline will go global at some point it alrready shows a price tage for me on my steam wishlist even though teh games not advaible in current region.

Your idiotic disagreement is once again, idiotic.

Also, please use spellcheck, makes you look more idiotic.

DQX Offline, as said in developer interviews, was made for one reason and one reason alone, and I can further back this up because I actually play DQX Online, and I seen the new menu selection for a DRAGON QUEST X OFFLINE DATA TRANSFER

The game is made to get those terrified of MMOs, to go into Online, so they can start giving SE Subscription Money, Cash Shop Money, and Smart App Money *DQX Smart App is 5x more useful than FFXIV's*

That is its intention, the developers even said it themselves, that is the games intention. It will not come to Global, at all, period, unless they intend on giving us DQX Online as well.

Dragon Quest X Online is currently in Version 6.3. That is 4 expansions you will never see in Offline. The instant you clear the final boss of DQX Offline, it will give you a message at the end of credits to continue the adventure, ONLINE, and show you how to proceed with that.

Now before you try anymore arguments, I am a DQX Content creator, my videos actually show up as recommended quite often now for those who regularly search Dragon Quest content. I make it my priority to know what goes on with SE, my community team who all plays DQX Online, and so on.

"It was made to preserve a game" is one of the most idiotic statements I sadly see people spew. Game Companies don't give a rats ass about game preservation, they care about profit. DQ Offline is just another tool to get people to play online and thus give them triple the money via the sources I mentioned above. That is its intention, that is what SE the company, and its developers has stated, its intention for DQX Offline, and that is it.

Chibi Crap Graphics, neutered storylline, Isometric world, does not, a preservation make. If they wanted to preserve it? They woulda made a offline version of the real game. It would not be difficult, only 1 percent of content in the game absolutely requires, Human interaction *Again, I played all of DQX* and that can easily be resolved via toning down those particular fights to be winnable with Support A.I, and for the 8 and 12 man fights, can either script them down to a single party, or have 4-8 predetermined A.I Supports fight it along-side you.

If they brought DQX Offline to global, and not the real Online game, that would be a insult. It would be SE once again underestimating how MMO hungry global is especially the U.S. Crapcom made that mistake with their Online MMO Monster Hunter they helped make and release with...China....a country that does not have time for MMOs due to its social standards, and then Dragons Dogma Online, which flopped in Japan, obviously, because It was nowhere near, as popular a franchise in Japan as it is in the West.

Oh and yes, SE did release DQX Online to China, thinking it would do well. Obviously they did not learn from Crapcoms mistake. It got shut down within a year. Barely anyone in china, especially not children, has more than 2 hours of time a WEEK to be playing video games. Hell they even cracked down on that law even further. MMOs require moderate to heavy time investment, or you will always be left behind. DQX Online has so much content, so many different ways to make yourself more and more powerful, that even just 10 hours a week isnt enough, due to how fast new content keeps coming out.

Sighs, don't make me curb stomp you again kid.

Keep thinking your irrational thoughts. Your conclusions are wrong. yes it was always intended to transfer from offline to online. Nothing special about that. But perhaps you should learn Japanese and read articles posted abouit it.l

Furthermore you CANT plat it, I can, and I can even but it outside of Japan.

Furthermore when you install the game currently it ask you what language you want with the game. :)

As for Sales of the offline version. They did pretty well in Japan. Particular on the Switch. Go educate yourself on Japanese language and then get back to me. or perhaps GO PLAY THE GAME. Oh thats right, you can't/ poor baby, so your opinion and thoughts on a game you cant even load up is worthless.

I've played Online with DQXClarity and I have to say there's a lot that really took me out of the experience. It definitely has a lot of those MMO staples and really doesn't feel like a Dragon Quest in a lot of ways. Sure, all the series elements are there, but there's so much that feels like it's any other MMO (PSO, WoW, etc) with a DQ "skin". The experience is a lot less "streamlined" compared to almost any other DQ game (and, it makes sense, it's not a single-player game).

Also Online runs on Crystal Tools, which is an ancient, proprietary game engine (same one FF13 runs on), and this goes all the way back to the Wii version of DQX as well -- i'm not at all a fan of it in a technical sense, especially compared to UE4 (which both DQXI and DQXO run on).

I've not played Offline myself, but from what I have seen it looks much closer to the experience i'm accustomed to with all the other DQs. The lighting looks really nice (as a result of running on UE4 4.27), but the graphical style is a bit weird. I'm also not a fan of the whole chibi thing and if you look at the textures...they are extremely pixelated, much worse than in Online, even (and the textures in that game don't look that good either. Mostly due to being 12+ years old). Some say that's intentional and part of the "retro" style they're going for...but idk, i'd have to play it for myself. On that topic, the price of DQXO is way too high: $60 for the base game and even more for the "Deluxe" version. That's not even to mention how difficult they made it for international players to even buy the game in the first place[docs.google.com].

Also, they're absolutely incentivizing users to transfer from DQX Offline into DQX Online, and I am extremely doubtful about any possibility of Version 3 and up coming to Offline. I really think that's just wishful thinking, and that is not something i'd ever give Square Enix the benefit of.

-------------------

TL,DR: I'm more than a bit disillusioned with both versions of DQX.

60 is fine. The deluxe is for an expansion pass. And no they aren't trying to get people to sign up for online. That's just flawed logic. Western rubbish thinking.

Going online is an option, just like deluxe version do to season pass, what is mostly content not skins. And well as for any jp game on steam, Japan is usually very expensive.

Most people who played online, offline and reviewed it on YouTube enjoy the offline version. I never played online version, but the offline is fun.

Though as it's not in English and you most likely meet the language barrier you wouldn't enjoy it.

How many mmos have you bought on stesm or elsewhere and now vanished into nothingness.....

Thats wasted money. Mmos should make an offline version, not all content online version has as that's not rational. But a game that gamers could return to later to relive part of their enjoyment.

They didn't make it hard for gamers to buy either. They just not atm foolish to pay a publisher to take it west. Even now it be flamed as its Japanese language 98% of gamers would cry over that.

The games meant to serve the gamers in its market. For the record dq ip outshines final fantasy in Japan, even ff7 by a huge margin.

By your logic, bandai should bring super robot wars 5vand 10 globally, just because.....

I own those on steam as well.

In both cases pretty sure its license issues and publisher rights.

I would recommend buying dqx offline. To be fair I own Ar norsurge and ceil norsurge as well. All three games are great.

Btw since its launch it's my favorite game to play on my steam deck.

There was some interest in an English translation being made by modders for DQX Offline (in fact, using the hand translation of v1 from the DQX Clarity project), but the big hurdle was (1) the price and (2) how difficult it is to just buy the game[docs.google.com].

Even if a translation was done (which there still is some interest), there's the obvious question of how many it would really benefit. There are absolutely Westerners that are interested in DQXO, but with how many hoops have to be hopped through to even buy it... that's going to discourage most.

I don't really play any MMOs since they generally just don't appeal to me and as has already been stated, it's just too much of a time sink -- I don't play games that don't respect my time. So, the Offline version has some appeal in that regard. But when Online is "free" (up through Version 2)...it's tough to justify $60 for Offline.

If it were the other way around (where Offline was cheaper than Online), i'd probably pick it up in a heartbeat. If for no other reason than it runs on a modern engine and is moddable like DQXI is. Right now, Offline is in a tough spot where it looks good but it's just not a buy I can justify.
