Should I turn off Draconian mode
Hey guys, I'm on Draconian mode with increased monster difficulty. It was fun until now. I beat every boss on the first try, but I always felt like it was a challenge. But now I feel like it's becoming a chore. Normal encounters take forever and can actually wipe the floor with me if I get unlucky (the cucumbers with spears near phnom nomh can one hit me with their crit). I got scared because of this, so I grinded to level 27-28. I'm now at the painting boss in Phnomh Nomh or whatever and it's insane. It can move 3 times a turn and has a 100% crit attack that can oneshot my squishy characters. Should I turn off Draconian Mode? I'm just afraid because I can't turn it back on and I hate nothing more than boring games without a challenge.

Why not? This game is purely luck based. If you have all requited character pepped than Erick can just wipe the floor with Slayer, Having a midheal healps as well to negate almost all dmg,
Or you can just put shield pep and enjou close to 0 dmg from enemy,

I'd recommend leaving it on as the part of the game youre currently in is notorious for having a difficulty spike with stronger monsters enabled. Keep at it as this difficulty is a lot more satisfying then the standard difficulty which I consider to be far too easy. Tastes differ however and everyone has their own preference as far as difficulty is concerned but remember that once you disable a draconian option you can't enable it again.

Should you need any help concerning this specific part of the game i'd be glad to answer any further questions should you have them!

Yes but isn't the draconian completion still bugged? As in you don't see any completion note for beating with draconian options?

I received a message for having played with Draconian debuffs when I completed the game's 2nd phase.

Just a message then? No extra stars or anything more permanent?

I have completed a playthrough with 2 draconian options enabled (stronger monsters and no experience from weaker enemies) and the game acknowledged that I had the draconian options enabled as they are marked with a star.
I have heard that some people experience a bug where this doesn't happen but for me personally this bug never occured. As to whether it's fixed at the moment I can't say as I never had this issue.

The boss you're describing was by far the hardest boss for me. And I'm near (I think) the end of the 2nd act, now. I had to grind to level 29/30 to beat it, i think, and even then I ended up with all party members dead except for one.

Thank you all. I didn't know that there was charm protection. I'll get those and then try again !

Just leave it on. I am new to DQ and thought I would do a normal playthrough, but on non-draconian it's too easy. It become more of a slow-walking game with a great story, rather than focussing on gameplay. The bosses are easy and their patterns are solved fast, thus you know which chars and spells to use within a few turns. But sadly I am too far in to the game, so I will complete the story and then focussing on achievements and wait for VIII

In the Status box on the main menu? No, no star.

Having answered that, out of curiosity, why does that matter to you?

Because of a bug that doesnt leave any special marks on your save even if you beat it with draconoan conditions. I mean a message is nice and all but no bragging rigths as you could also get it with the no flee option, which by far is the most useless even in normal playthrough. The message alone would not suffice as bragging point.

It's too easy without Super Strong Monsters on, leave Draconian on IMO. Just make sure you equip status protection accessories, make as much armors as you can +3, have a balance of usable items in each characters inventory and such.

The game is harder early on where you're at because your skill trees arent fleshed out. It becomes balanced throught the rest of the game.
Now try WITHOUT accessories.

Yep, one of the options disables armours, shields and eveb charms of any like!

Ok, but.... who ever sees that screen besides you?

If your plan is to show off screenshots, the message when you complete the campaign shows what options you had active, so you could capture that if you wanted to.
