VR is just another medium.
It's like saying turn based games don't belong in 3D.
I remember when people were actually saying that at one point. When N64 came out and we stopped seeing turn-based games really being made for Nintendo anymore at the time. Playstation sure proved them wrong.
One of the best eras of turn-based games ever came out then.
It doesn't make any sense.
Just because a new medium or whatever comes along doesn't mean fans of a genre go away. Saying that they don't belong in VR is in fact rooting for turn based games to become irrelevant in the future.
Besides. VR is about being able to experience being in the game. It's what VR adds to the game, not what the genre adds to VR.
I AM someone who is dying for a turn based game like this in VR so please don't be closed minded. I'm not looking for negative comments about it.
People can comment if they like the idea or just not comment if they don't.
Simple as that. No fighting that way ;)
Hmm i wonder, investing 100.000 dollar to make it VR compatible for, what 30 people? - OR save 100.000 and NOT implement it... damn hard choice here....oh wait.
VR is dead, simple.
Just because 100 something people like VR doesn't mean it is worth it.
let me guess, you are one of the few people who use VR and wants a100 hour + game to use it as well...
How does that feel?
VR is not dead. Real VR like a PC that can handle an Oculus or VIve is just still too expensive because of GPU mining. A new generation of cards is coming though so things are continuosly depreciating.
Seriously, I don't appreciate trolling.
No one wants internet arguments.
The OP clearly asks people just to leave a comment in support if they like the idea of VR, not whether or not you think VR is dead or if you think turn based RPGs don't belong in it.
I am not arguing with anyone anymore.
Leave a comment if you aren't completely closed minded about this.
Otherwise, you can show you're against it by just not leaving a comment.
It's a count of heads,
that's it.
I don't want any internet nastiness.
Period.
I'll +1 it though just for the advancement of gaming in general
think about it.
And so, while im all for it, I dont. I dont think its fun to spend 100 hour in a VR headset, and I think funding this project would hurt the game studio.
Ofc im for the option for it, like if its a first person jrpg/rpg that support VR- great!
the reason why I dont get the VR for dragon quest is... its like animated, and meant to be...I think running around in the world would feel a bit ...well maybe it works for kids?
Also you said turn based is dead?
DQ 11 sold 2 million copies in Japan alone. Persona 5 sold 2 million copies.
Games like Xcom and other SRPG always have an audience - final fantasy tactics, valkyria chronicles etc.
Great turn based games always have a market, prove me wrong otherwise.
He is just salty people disagree with him, and tries to flame the people who like turn based rpgs and try to convince them it is dead (while it clearly isn't) so he feels better about himself.
I mean, thats like 95% of the market gone easily.
VR is def not going away, but I think you need to wait many more years before it will penetrate the mainstream market.
Would’ve liked the first person better if you can actually move and do stuff in it. I would have preferred they just kept the closer camera angle you could switch to.
