A question regarding pep power
Sorry if this is being asked in here or if there is some kind of explanation in game, but I haven't seen anything on this so I figured I would ask here.
How exactly does pep power trigger exactly? As far as I know the game told me that it triggers when you or your party members give or receive damage. So I am wondering, if there is a way to determine the exact amount of damage given or damage taken that you need left in order to trigger pep power. I am pretty sure it's not random but I'm not sure exactly what the details of it are. I am not very far into the game and I just got a quest asking me to do the wild side pep power on a certain enemy, the problem is that this requires three of your party members to be pepped at the same time. After playing and fighting monsters for about an hour I am unable to have the needed three members pepped at the same time, I have gotten two of the members have at the same time but one of them pep always seems to wear off right before the third member peps ultimately leaving just two members at once. Is there some kind of a way to figure out exactly when a member is going to pep and how much damage needed/given is left in order for them to pep?

Isn't it only damage received? Or given too?

The trick to multi-member pep powers is that being pepped up doesn't go away when you're not in the active lineup! So, for example, if you need the Hero, Erik, and Serena to be pepped up, and Erik peps, put him in the back line until the Hero and Serena are both ready! This is a lot easier when you have more party members, and that quest does not expire any time soon.

One of the factors is to get hit. Another one is for party allies being hit. Im pretty sure there are other factors too running on the background. I treat it as random, never making a strategy around them.

When you get your 5th party member you can swap characters that are pepped. That way the character that is not being used still keeps the pep status. This helps doing multiple party pep attacks by just bringing the pepped up characters back from the background to the main line.

Thank you, I did not realize that, that sure will make getting certain party members pepped up at the same time much easier. Again thank you. Another question about your response, let's say a party member does get pepped and you put them in the back row, does there pepped up status wear off automatically or does it just stay on until start using them in the main party again?

Their pep status doesn't change at all if they are not in the lineup.

So as far as I can tell based on info provided in the game this is how I think pep works. Its an escalating % chance per turn in combat. I'm pretty sure its saved between combats. I also think things happening in combat at the very least give it an increased chance on a single check.

So to give an example of how this would work. Hero is in combat with a slime. He has a 1% chance to pep on turn turn 1. It doesn't happen. Turn 2 he has a 2% chance. Turn 3 a 3% chance. And so on. So that is the baseline. Now say on turn 3 the slime finally manages to land a hit. This increases the chance on turn 4 by an extra 1% for a total of 5%. However I don't think that bonus from the slime hitting counts on the next turn so turn 5 is back to the standard scaling and rolls on a 5% chance.

Obviously the above numbers very likely are not the real in game numbers, just simple ones I made up for purposes of an example. I do not know the real numbers for this and I repeat, this is just my best guess from observation.

I think this is pretty close to accurate as in the Luminary tree that the hero gets, there's an early option to boost Pep Chance by 5%, I believe. And I noticed that after taking it my hero's been getting Pepped Up more often than my other characters.

You probably have him first in the line up so he's receiving more damage as well.

you can get pepped by just defending.

That doesn't answer my question. Maybe I didn't express myself correctly.

I know you get pepped by receiving damage (whether it is normal or while defending). The question is, can you also gain pep by attacking and dealing damage?

Im confused. How do I change the line up? I need to do the quest where I use a certain pep power combo on a monster but I never get the right people to be pepped up a the same time. And after looking into the menus I couldnt find any way of changing the line up

Both defending and attacking are classified as spending a turn, doesn't matter how much damage else Erik will forever be pepped easily. They both charge your pep status slightly, getting hit and losing huge chunk of HP charges it fastest.

At the very beginning of every battle, just before it starts actually, there is four options you could choose from, fight, tactics, And lineup. Obviously you have to choose lineup but you can only do it that one time just before the battles begin, you can't change members once the battle has started.

lol you can change the line up any time you want. Just press Y (or whatever it is on KB) between turns.
