Fighting Tatsunaga felt more like a battle of attrition rather than an "actual" battle
First off, Tatsunaga can AND will move 3 times in a row. He has 4 different abilities:

1) The standard attack. Deals average amount of damage with two defense down debuffs.

2) The war cry. Minimal damage but can hit everyone with a chance of knockdown. Very dangerous if an important character is knocked down (healers like Rab or the MC).

3) The flame breath. Hits 3 times fire damage and can reduce almost half of any character's HP.

4) The desperate attack. Without fail, can reduce almost 3/4 of any character's HP. Not that it matters because Tatsunaga always use this move last, usually of the same character he's been attacking.

The first time I fought him (without Serena and Veronica in my party and Erik still has amnesia), I was SUPER unlucky. Tatsunaga did the war cry and knocked Rab down. He then proceeded to use the flame breath and the desperate attack on the MC, instantly killing him. Use the Yggdrasil's Leaf to revive the MC but on Tatsunaga's next turn, he used the flame breath again on the MC, killing him then used the desperate attack on Rab, also killing him. So now I can't resurrect any characters since both Zing users are dead. One more turn later, my whole party was wiped out.

Sure I managed to beat him on my 2nd try but d*mn, the whole fight felt unfair to me.

A lot of boss fights are like this. I think the worst for me so far was the post game fight in Octagonia. Two boss fights in a row, with obscene damage and nonstop status effects with the first fight containing five targets that have access to pep skills.

Good thing I don't have time (or interest) for any post game optional content. Once I finished a game, I usually put it down and move on to other games. Like The Witcher 3, loved that game but left out a bunch of side quest unfinished once I've beaten it. Guess I'm a bad gamer lol

I found it beneficial to focus on defense and dps at the outset. Hendrick with a shield and axe is good in this fight. When characters get killed, swap them out. I started with Hendrick, Jade, MC, and Erik (in that order). I focused on dps until I was left with Hendrick, Sylv, Rab, and Serena, Tatsunaga was yellow at that point. Hendrick had a sage stone, so everyone had a multiheal at the end. Got through the fight pretty quickly with that approach.

I think it's weird this game calls the third chapter "post game." There's significant story content, more than just a "different ending;" it's actually essential to understanding the true plot of the game to play through the "post game" stuff.

Don't look at post game as extra content. Look at it as the third chapter of the game. Because the story continues.
