Unmarked Island north of Slime island?

There is an Unmarked Island a bit north of the Slime Island (the East most marked island).
As far as I know, this is the only Island that's not visable from the World Map.

Is it used for anything? If it was any other DQ game, I'd think it was something you visit after getting the Flying method, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

There's a quest in the late game where you need to sail close to it for a boss fight. That's pretty much it. It's just basically a marker to let you know where the fight is.

Weird, I wonder why they didn't add it to the map? Or is that part of the quest?

They tell you to look for an unmarked island north of... whatever the island to the south was called. :p
