i7 4790k Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility Default vs Proposed values
core voltage 1.213 (default) vs 0.500 (proposed)
3 active cores 43.000 x (default) vs 44.000 x (proposed)
4 active cores 42.000 x (default) vs 44.000 x (proposed)
Cache voltage 1.049 v (default) vs 0.800 v (proposed)

windows power plan is balanced.

Am I getting BSOD alot because the proposed values are lower then the default values? is it normal that the proposed values are very low?

the temp of the cpu went from 79c to 68c after applying the default values.

I wasnt overclocking nor underclocking which is weird.

Reset your bios to optimized defaults. If you made any changes past that, you'll have to redo them. Unless you have a motherboard with settings saved that you can roll back to before this stuff started happening.

Extreme tuning utility is junk, don't use it. Uninstall that ♥♥♥♥.

If you get any problems with your PC not booting, then you'll need to reset the CMOS, if no CMOS button, unplug it and pull the battery out for a solid minute.

Everything in cpu section in the bios is set to Auto, I never change them.

My pc boot fine but sometimes it crash while playing DQ11 and FF15 for almost two hours. I got WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR. WinDbg shows that is intel cpu cache issue.

I just applied these setting, I will play Dq11 or FF15 to see if it got fixed or not.

That does seem kinda odd, that the proposed values are overclocked, and massively under-volted. I would take that as there being some kinda glitch in the software causing inaccurate values, and I definitely wouldn't want software like that on my PC that has any impact on the stability of my PC.

WHEA error is as a result of an unstable overclock, most likely. And based on what you posted, it has to be something with that software you're using. Uninstall the ♥♥♥♥.

If it still happens, then it's possible that software did something screwy in your Bios, and you might want to reset the bios back to optimized defaults, anyway, just to ensure you got rid of all changes that software might have made, which could still be in effect after uninstalling it.

FF XV and DQ XI will both tax your old CPU, especially FF XV. This could be temperature related as well.

When is the last time you replaced the thermal compound on your CPU? It's good practice to do that every 2 years or so. And if you're gonna do that, then you might as well look for an after-market CPU cooler, if you don't already have one. You can get a $30 CPU cooler that massively out-performs the stock coolers.

I use arctic silver 5 thermal compound on my CPUs.

Well I downloaded intel extreme before for the stress test only. Today I changed to values to default values according to intel extreme and the CPU temp went from 79c to 68c which is a nice improvement. I will test it tomorrow.

I applied thermal paste to the CPU last month. My cooling system is water pro 3.0.

Why are your temps so high on water?

68c during gaming is ridiculously hot on water. Especially at stock clocks. No offense, but either that cooler is junk, or you didn't seat it properly.

My Ryzen 5 1600x uses a freaking Cooler Master 212+ Turbo, it's OC'd and my CPU reaches 55c tops on gaming. 65-68c running Intel Burn Test. and I'm OC'd.

You should be getting lower temps than me.

Check your fan profiles.

Is the water pro 3.0 good? Haha

My motherboard is gigabyte z87x of force which doesn't support 4790k without updating the bios of it so maybe it is an error?
AH-1 Cobra Oct 6, 2018 @ 11:16am
Dude, those temps are insanely hot for a 120mm radiator on a non-OC'd I7 4790k. Like 20c hotter than they should be.

The benchmark temp of intel extreme went from 79c to 68c not during gaming. I will test the games tomorrow after applying the default values.

68c is fine for benchmarking temps. But for a non-OC'd chip, that's still a little on the high side. 68c bench with no OC, means you don't have much room for OCing on that cooler. Basically none.

I'm told that 120mm water coolers aren't all that great compared to air. There are some air coolers that will outperform 120mm water coolers, like some of the Noctua coolers, and other dual fan push/pull setups. But these air coolers require more space inside of your case.
