Yeah, most RPGs don't give XP for instant kills like that, I assume DQ is the same way.

It doesn't, trust me. This is from someone who played most of the series. Poof will not grant exp for enemies you vanish this way, nor would it be a good idea to use it on bosses (it'll likely have no effect)

It says it makes them vanish, not instantly kill them. I assume the actial insta kill skills do however give xp
