End-end game just about everyone gets more group/all damage done anyway, his main damage dealers rely on charm and not weapons, and I put him on daggers because his endgame daggers have +charm on them (and look cooler than the swords). Charm is going to benefit his skills i'm going to be using, and on the turns he doesnt need to heal i can use him to set up a status effect for eric.
(although I did end up getting eric into dual wield boomerangs so that last point becomes a bit moot)
Overall his melee aint great but he's great for early buffs or when dealing with beguiled enemies. Also his hustle dance is quite cheap and early to get.
Personally I'd always focus on getting his good skills on the tree, then just go whatever with weapons. Ended up swords on him
