GIGA is closing down

Closing down at 31st March next year. All their titles will be no longer supported and removed from store after that day.
No idea about digital games (doesn't say much about it).. will it be downloadable after closing down? or removed completely..

Steam typically doesnt remove games from their library, just the stores. Meaning you cant buy anymore but can still download if you own the game.

Crap, I wonder what this means for their games on other storefronts like dlsite? Or even stuff I can only find as physical copies. I may need to pick up all the Team Baldrhead games before that. Already seems tough to track some of it down.

On dlsite they are the ones publishing it themselves I think so it will probably be taken down from there.

They only talk about japanese stores, digital included. Pretty sure both steam and gog versions of Sky will be untouched.

I personally pre ordered the master collection from JP amazon.

The saddest part about this is that we will never get other baldr games localized ever(unless fan translations but that`s highly unlikely), or thier latest game that is not a baldr game(by name) Because of the parent company.

Honestly sad we didnt get Sky translated earlier so it got more recognition in the west. But it is what it is. Between Duel Savior and Baldr Sky, I'll remember Giga.

Masterpiece Chronicle? Damn, I've been trying to find where to pick that up when I can afford it. I think I only found like one storefront that seemed to have it available, and every other place was sold out.

Just bought Clarias in case it disappears. Sucks how low the visibility is on so many of their games, needing to track down physical copies to even play them in Japanese. I know eroge VN's are niche, but Sky and DiveX are some of the best mecha fighters I've played.

well the original selling of masterpice chronicle was limited for the 20th anniversary of the series that's why you can't find it anywhere but they are doing another ran in march 2023 you can pre-order it on JP amazon.

Ah clarias... well it'll disappear no doubt, I personally just got a version from the seven seas for that one. It is team baldrhead's last game and a spiritual succesor to baldr games I'm sure it's at least decent. Once I'll figure out how to make machine translation work on the deck I'll play it.

Seems decent so far, but not as much fun as Baldr Sky. What have you used for machine translation in the past? I tried using PCOT, but I found just using google translate with my phone camera was still a bit easier.

actually I haven't used anything yet... I haven't found VNs yet that I wanted to play so badly without translations to bother with machine translations. And now I only have a steam deck so I doubled my no knowledge about setting it up because of linux.

I don't even think there are other giga games translated officially... Only baldr force has a fan translation.

Hopefully they run a 90% sale and announce delisting before it goes, if it goes.
Considering Sekai upped all region pricing, the price is outside of the reach of most.
