The issue is that I don't think there is any particularly strong reason that they aren't doing them. Gust has almost their entire Atelier library up on steam and newer consoles... other companies have done similar. It just seems like Bandai Namco is a publisher that is swamped with other more popular IP's. They are doing dragon ball games, digimon games, Naruto games, Tekken, one piece, Elden ring, little nightmares, Spyxanya, ect. ect. ect. They are doing so much, that they are not re-publishing their older games series like tales... Unless it's REALLY popular.
Which is an issue for series like Tales, as they get buried as not a priority. But thats what bothers me... If they bothered putting some of the other games up... Why have they taken so long to put up other entries?
Like.. It's been 4 years since the last port on steam... Yet they remastered Sympohina AGAIN for the Nintendo switch this year and didn't even bother to put the newer version on steam either... It wouldn't be an issue if they at LEAST said something about porting the other games... but... :/ At this rate, we'll be in our 50's by the time these games get ported to a modern console.
Seems like a strong reason to me for them not doing it. It's their company and they'll have their own thinking of what is best for them to commit resources to.
I hear you, and I can understand the disappointment, but maybe the sales aren't as strong on Steam as they'd like for the non-Arise titles, or they just don't think a Symphonia remaster would sell enough to be worth the effort to put on PC. Probably would be a lot of complaining about it on the PC side also.
Personally, I'd struggle to even pay US$4.99 for that Symphonia remaster. I've never even played the game before either. It's just not worth my time, along with most old games now. It would be just wasting money. When I gave Vesperia DE a shot when it released, I refunded it because it felt and played like a dated game.
It's not like there aren't ways to play all these games, right? I mean, if you want to play them then just do that. Getting upset because you're waiting for however many years for basically "dinosaur" games that are old and dated at their core probably isn't a good thing.
As someone who was on reddit for years until finally deleting my account, reddit (mostly the community, mods, and corporate reddit) is significantly worse.
Same, I'd happily pay for more old Tales games instead of emulating them, but since they don't want to I'll just keep my money.
Xilla was my second fav after Vesperia, i don't konw why theres no port of those.
If anything, i'm more surprised that The Idolmatster and Survival Quiz City weren't used as excuses to stay on consoles given the fact that we're also getting Tekken 8, let alone a closed beta test on PC (especially surprising, since beta tests are console-only out of fears of datamining)
With that said, I do agree that it's abso-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-lutely criminal that Tales of Xillia 1 and 2 aren't on PC due to being released as PS3 exclusives so late in the console's lifespan.
Why would they? It's already on Steam....the so-called Switch 'remaster' isn't fundamentally different.
(Do not mistake Tales of Destiny 2 for Tales of Destiny II, those are different games)
