How long does catching all the fish take?
Is it tedious?

The fishing mechanic is not bad, so it doesn't feel too tedious. It may feel slightly tedious at first, but it gets much better once you get better fishing rod & bait. You do so by talking to that fishing-guy after you caught X numbers of fishes.

If you do Kisara 60+ training grounds you get a 3 star rod, that makes it super simple.

Also remember to buy the lures from the Inn's through out the game and grab the rewards from the dude at the pond you learn to fish as you catch more fish. Lures will make fishing mindless.

took me around an hour, it sucked at first, but after you catch your first 3 and understand how it works its not that bad at all.

Fishing in Arise is hell of a lot less tedious than it was in FF15... :P

I'm prolly very biased for the fish length because I enjoy most (if not all) kinds of fishing mini-games. IMO, it shouldn't take long and isn't so tedious. Lemme try summing it up.

You can actually catch any fish with any lure; just follow the pattern that the game openly tells you for each fish. Some fish spots has a fish that just won't show up; they pop up by a small chance. Those are likely boss fishes. You can not worry about it until later; you can obtain a lure that spawns them 100% on any spot you cast it to, on much later subquests. (of course, actually catching them would be a different story)

Simply put: catch fish > obtain/purchase lure reward > catch more fish > obtain boss fish lures > catch boss fishes.

That said, some fishing spots are inaccessible behind a boss of significant level, so it'll take "eventually you getting strengthened along the way" or something. (for reference, I'm at my 38th unique fish)

Tedious? I wouldn't really say so. I'm at about 60-70% and I've done nothing but stop to fish for 10-15 min each time I find a pond. NOTE: Make sure you go back to the Inn's you have already been to once you unlock fishing. Not sure when exactly but sometime after you unlock fishing, they will sell lures. Not all of them will have a lure but most do so grab em before you start! The fishing mechanic is really good. Better then it should be actually haha

I just did the fishing sidequest yesterday and it took a couple of hours to catch all the fish (maybe 4 hrs?). I had the 3-star rod for Kisara that you get from the coliseum and it really helped. Make sure to use the correct lure to help you catch the fish you want and pay attention to what it says to press to (X, O, square, or triangle) to lure in the fish you want.

As soon as you unlock fishing the lures gets added to the shop. You can find the following purchasable lures:
Disarming Lure – Brought via the innkeeper at the Cysloden inn in Cyslodia.
Trembling Lure – Brought via the innkeeper at the Viscint inn in Elde Menancia.
Charming Lure – Brought via the innkeeper at the Niez inn in Mahag Saar.
Rock Slapper – Brought via the innkeeper at the Pelegion inn in Ganath Haros.

Here I'm, my last achievement that I need for completion, and I give up for some time.

Most fish are easy enough to catch. Fishing locations that have 6 fish in them (others have 5) feature a boss fish in them in the bottom spot. Skip the boss until you have a proper rod and lure (Sniper Rod preferably, plus the lure specific to that boss).
