The only thing I didn't like was that Alphen didn't just kill Vohlran and be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ done with it, that felt a bit forced ... after everything Vohlran did, he—more than any of the other Lords—was truly unforgivable and should have been punished as such.
Other than that, it was very emotional, and very satisfying indeed regarding Alphen and Shionne finally getting to be intimate.
Was it rushed?
Why was he there?
Was it meant to be this funny and bizarre?
I can't think of a single Jojos reference at the end either.
It's nice this game has a happy ending for a change.
It's not perfect by any means but it's better than having our protagonists sacrifice themselves for the 10th game in a row.
i thought the last fight was a tad easy, including the vholran fight, it was just perfect dodge his spells and spam him with void blades or what its called. but maybe thats bc i was overleveled a bit (level 52 i think).
yeah im okay with that ending but it wasnt anything to write home about.
I think the ending was good and I actually quite like it, but not it's implementation.
I for one really dislike the "after final boss you stand at final boss" shenanigans. The driving point of the story that lasted the longest were those thorns and when we finish the game they're still there. Like, what? Sure, the credits and pictures at the end showed that they were gone, but I was looking forward to seeing it in the group talks and perhaps some more cutscenes. Maybe some misc talk about Hootle being as soft as he looks.
Lack of closure is the second issue for me. What happened afterwards? Alphen and Shionne married, ok, but what about the others? What did everyone do after the journey? Is everyone growing a beard and becoming a lumberjack? All we see is Rinwell reading, Law carrying some kid with a dragon beat up in the background, Kisara fishing and Dohalim giving a concert with Alph and Law in the background.
What's with Hektor-35? What happened after all the energy was "free" again? Did the planets merge the other way around, with dahna absorbing the rest of rena? Having some planet fullscreen didn't tell me much.
How did they go about unveiling the dehna/rena abduction thing? Speaking of, why do the renans' eyes glow when Rinwell's don't?
While it's by no means a short game, I really wish it was longer since so much is left open. Who knows, maybe we get an anime like Zestiria had or a sequel like Xillia/Destiny, but those are a rarity among the tales games. I'd be all for it, it's my favourite cast of the series so far.
E: missed a few words. Whoops.
I feel like the problem with it is the horrid exposition dump.
Oh no they're not aliens they're us! But there ARE aliens, and they came down to eat us because they were supposed to eat us 300 years ago?
Why did we teleport the party to the station anyways if they were mind controlled?
Also why did Vholran show up? Why was Vholran the final boss anyways? Sure he was a bad guy for bad guys sake but that was really, really dumb he was only in one part, he wasn't Sephiroth his influence wasn't that massive to the story, then again neither was the spirits.
Did we just kill the amalgamation of all the Sovereigns?
What was the point of the four lights?
Was the final boss bad then? Or was it just trying to put itself back together? Or was it a existence ending Cthulu, why did I only find this out in the exposition dump?
having a happy ending for once
yeah ok the kinda power of love thing at the end was pretty forced but eeeh again i'm just ok with having a happy end for once
There's still an entire postgame dungeon if you want more skits and banter.
I'm not entertained by generic stories I've seen told in the 90's. Except, back then they weren't considered generic...
We're in 2021 now, btw. So no, I was not entertained by the ending.
I felt happy to see everything work out for them, especially Alphen and Shionne who had grown close very naturally through the story.
Vholran was the only part of the end that I had any issue with, but that's entirely because I hate him and everything he's done (Which I think was intentional).
Over all I'd give the ending high marks. It made me feel things.
I mostly didn't care for the story, but I do like a happy ending. So just on the basis of a happy ending I give it a pumpkin/10.
