This changes everything!
Up to now I thought that I needed Shionne to have a healing skill and resurrection slotted in her arte set for her to perform said actions but I just found out today that she can still perform those things even if not slotted(when being controlled by AI) after I witnessed her casting resurrection on me in battle! Guessing it's controlled by the strategy commands. If I had known sooner I'd have been slotting more offensive moves on her

Those three ground/aerial slots are for when in direct control. Otherwise their abilities are in the other menu you access within that menu that lets you put a check mark to disable or enable what skills the AI has access to. AI can use all abilities unless you manually disable specific ones (like to force them to only do certain things).

It's not controlled by strategy. You have a second menu where you disable or enable skills that the ai can use, the slotting is for manual use only. And strategies are just rules to go by, for reviving, healing, buffing, using items, moving away from enemies or doing nothing, and nothing else like attacking or dodging.

Yeah the AI can use all artes they have unlocked, regardless of what you put in their slots.

Only if you have it enabled on the second menu.

Its enabled by default for all artes unless you change it manually.

You can open the main arts menu at any time and manually cast anything you want. It's how you target characters other than yourself for buff spells.
