I'm already at menancia but this quest still says wait and comeback later. do i need to progress story more or questline is bugged?

It's not bugged, it's just that the quest actually won't continue until very far into the game.

Which I don't understand to be fair. I feel this is the case with some of these quests.

Every tales game has that kind of quest that you get very early but cannot be completed till very late.
This is normal.

Yeah, like the level 45 boss in the almost very first area, but this quest is just weird. Whats the purpose of gating it? You get next to nothing from it.

It is basically a staple that has been used in the series since forever, i remember a quest in Eternia that was basically talk with the dude, tells you to go find something, only to return before the final boss, talk to him and he says that he found the thing by himself under the bed.

There is no purpose, it's something that has been done to troll us since the very begining of the series. Same as Yoko Taro makes some quests totally unbearable and obnoxious because he hates completionists, Tales series does this.

I remember something in Berseria, not some quests specifically.. but I remember the quests being ass everyday. Ah well, I enjoyed playing the game regardless!
