Unable to Catch the Golden Catfish

I have been able to catch every fish I come across so far, but even with the 3rd rod and the correct lure I am unable to catch this fish. I'm hitting the QTEs fast enough and moving my rod left and right as you would any other fish, but the short times in between either actions lower my tension so fast I cant even get their health to half before the line eventually snaps. Is there something I'm missing, or maybe doing wrong?

Using the fish sniper rod? You're not mashing space bar are you? The fish shouldn't be difficult to catch so I don't know what you're missing. Maybe record video or something?

Yeah the sniper rod. I've never touched the space bar at all when fighting a fish. If you say I should be able to catch it then I'm kind of stumped since I honestly don't see where I can improve enough to be able to make enough progress to even get close to catching it.

Maybe some graphics settings throwing it off? I tried from 30fps to 120fps and it seemed to have the same difficulty throughout, vsync off. Not sure what other possible thing could be messing with it.

I guess you could also wait until you beat Kisara's solo Colosseum battle to get a better rod.

I read around a bit more and starting to do actions based upon the actual fish's movement, rather than the prompts and I managed to BARELY catch it. I guess it had to do with my reaction times possibly, but something still feels off compared to your video as I never managed to keep my tension above orange. Thanks for the help!

If I recall, I finished all the hard fishing with the super-duper rod you get once you've done everything else there is to do in the game. It's from the training grounds, technically. It helped, I got my last cheevo, and then I uninstalled the game and never touched it again because there was nothing left to do.
