Actually not mentioned in the EULA but I'd be stunned if it doesn't.

If it's not present, I'll buy the game, despite the fact that we still have no idea what it even plays like. Ball's in your court Namco.

If it does, it's off the wishlist. Screw Denuvo.

If Arise ends up having Denuvo, it gets removed from my Steam wishlist and added to that spreadsheet of mine tracking how much money I saved by not buying Denuvo'd games.

I'd be more worried about the data collection that's clearly stated in the EULA over Denuvo but whatever floats your boat.

So far in the Store page of the game and inside the EULA it does NOT mention anything about denuvo, but, given Tales of Berseria is still having denuvo for some unknown reason, I am afraid Tales of Arise will get denuvo, too. They might do it shadily by putting it in the game and not mention it in the Store page or just by updating/changing their EULA which technically, can happen any time they want to, but it is illegal to do so, considering people will pre-order/buy this game with the EULA it has right now. Imagine buying it and agreeing to the terms legally, and then they decide to change stuff because they can. It's also Namco we're talking about, they would do anything to "protect" their product, they love denuvo.

I hope I will be proved wrong, though. I hope Namco will just stop with this bs drm.

Denuvo or not, the system will likely outlive you. You won't lose access to your games any time soon, their service is not going away.

I'm sure some people said the same about Games for Windows Live...

That's an entirely different ball game though. That was a game service, while Denuvo is anti-piracy. It's not a platform by itself, and is supported by developers everywhere.

The constant fear about Denuvo being spread about the internet is unfortunately very improperly founded. They are afraid they'll suddenly lose access to their games if Denuvo somehow shuts down one day. The thing is, this service simply isn't going to leave.

lol i doubt anyone said that about that garbage
Melodia Apr 22, 2021 @ 11:01am
Denuvo 'just being anti-piracy' isn't going to matter if it disappears and you can't access your games because it tries to 'call home' and can't.

And regardless of anything else, it's DRM. In general, no DRM > DRM (and yes of course Steam is also a DRM, but it's about as benign of one as it gets).

When Denuvo is gone it will only be replaced with something else......starforce anyone lol might as well get used to this stuff.
Astolfo Apr 22, 2021 @ 11:06am

Namco Bandai seems to use a boilerplate EULA. I've checked some of their games with similar EULAs and nothing really seemed out of sorts.
