Anyone else think second half was cut short?
I have a feeling that covid cut 2nd part short. It feels incomplete in a sense.

Yeah, definitely, needed a shot in the arm.

Yeah, it definitely feels like the second half of Dark Souls 1. You blast through a bunch of shorter areas, and the "post-campaign" feels longer than the actual second half. Still good though.

They obviously ran out of time / budget for the second half and rushed right through with exposition dump after exposition dump.

Personally, I think even Part 1 was rushed as heck.

Would have loved to play a bit more as a rebel, actually having to a couple of scenario's before facing the Lord of an area.

I couldn't connect to the antagonists in this game at all, they all came and left way too fast.

And don't get me started on my issues with the Fifth Lord.
Definitely a lot of unused potential.

Still enjoyed the game though, but I get the feeling a lot of plot was cut out of the final picture. Just finished the game, going into Post-game now.

Yea, organizing some kind of rebellion(s) in each region would have been interesting for sure. Hell, they could have turned it into some kind of mini-game on it's own at some point.
That being said, no rebellion would work in Vholrans region - only brute force.

And some of them barely had any kind of explanation, again, like Vholran or why did Almedrea acted the way she did in front of Vholran moments before her death.

As I said above lol.

Yup, me too. Not like there's many games that play just like this one does.

Ya the storytelling is kinda crap when you actually start to look at it.

Overall decent game though. The plot holes are everywhere and I feel like they could have ended with the 5th Lord and maybe instead put more effort into making the campaigns of each region more memorable. Only the 1st and 2nd Lords had good character development and story.

Also I 100% agree that the 1st half is better of it all.

It's not just about the hours, it's about the fact the pacing feels weird. This game feels like Symphonia would if they reduced Tethe'alla to 2 dungeons instead of a vibrant world all its own.

I also agree with the lack of character development. Part of this was a large cast of antagonists, similar to Abyss, but unlike Abyss, where they introduce all of the antagonists and have them interact with the party multiple times through the story, here each antagonist is only around for a little bit, with virtually no character development for anyone.
Sadly falling apart in the second or third act is a time honored Tales tradition. Even the beloved ones like Symphonia and Vesperia get a lot rougher as they go on.

When they started doing extreme amounts of exposition right before the last dungeon, it literally reminded me of Tales of Grace and how they also did last minute exposition of the final boss. This is when i knew that the game went for a nose dive in quality.

Just seems like every game series that releases, not just tales series. Is graphically better but less complex or has systems removed. Like I really miss having a full connected world with a world map you can travel on and not this series of small connected instances. In this game I would heavy sigh each time a character said something like "well that was quite the adventure" or "Finally, we made it!" after all i did was fast travel.

it was rushed it was funding for "Tales of Luminaria". this game started off good but it quickly dropped and I wasn't into the romance they tried to hint in the game.

I think the only reason they pushed out Arise was for funding for more phone games they are trying to make phone games work.

It might be cut short which could explain the pacing issues but it is also possible that the later chunk was just a bit poorly handled but was largely as intended. While the pacing was a bit bleh, my core complaint is from the part where Rinwell talks about how the planets were supposed to supposedly be one originally up until the credits because absolutely none of that was grounded in logic. Not the planet issue, not Alphen's behavior towards that enemy and just dilly-dallying which for all intents and purposes should have resulted in Shionne's death because of his stupidity, but then we get the BS planet saving the day...??? or the dimension they were fighting in, or how the other party members were actually there at times but also not there at times but also watching Vholron fight solo against Alphen while they didn't assist.... Solid game, kind of cruddy very end section. At least the credit section was decentish. Boring silly final boss. Despite what was said near the end, due to the credits I'm doubtful of a sequel, though if there was one Aphen/Shionne would almost certainly not be part of the playable cast.
