Thoughts on the Cutscenes?
This game is no doubt my favorite out of the most recent tales games (Zesteria and Beseria)
But for me the story was hard to watch, and i mean that literally. I could be wrong but it felt like cut scenes varied from 5-45 minutes sometimes back to back with no gameplay in-between and I missed out on a good chunk of the story throughout the game. Am I imagining things or are the 3d scenes extremely long

personally felt like some anime cutscenes were a bit lacking, especially with details on facial impressions. if you missed any part of cutscenes or skipped them, same for skits, you can replay them at any time when camping outside at a bonfire.

How would you miss out on them? Are you skipping them or something? I don't think they are that bad, and definitely not close to 45 minutes. That would be more like Metal Gear Solid territory, or the even more insane Xenosaga lol.

I don't feel they are particularly long, myself, though the pacing is complained about by many after realm 5. That said, I cannot stand half of Kisara's stuff because she is so flat especially with regards to her obsession of Migal and those scenes feel like they drag and make me want to avoid them.

Used to it already from Bamco big anime games.

That giant exposition dump towards the end really needed some gameplay somewhere during it though.

I know you can rewatch animated scenes but the meat is the 3d scenes and for some reason I can't access those at the campsites

Kisara's growth was definitely lacking lol
I missed a lot of info in the cutscenes just by losing focus after a while, they feel incredibly long and repetitive near the late game but again, it could just be my imagination. I'm used to story heavy games but this was the first in a long time where i felt it was a little too story heavy.

Yeah I feel that. I dozed off halfway through two scenes but i didn't want to reload my file to watch them from the start lol. Ultimately the fault is mine

I think they could've cut out/re-worded a few scenes and skits since quite a few of them are just the characters restating information you just learned about.

Mmmm might just be they come off kind of bland at times, which I do agree. They aren't even that long, but they do feel unnecessarily long winded sometimes with poor pacing and I say this while loving Xenosaga episode 1's like 30 hours of cutscenes (and frequent 15-60 min cutscenes, yes that isn't an exaggeration but they are like Star Wars/Lord of the Rings quality scenes esp episode 1). Might be easier to just play it in smaller play sessions due to the pacing so it doesn't feel as dragged out.

I noticed that. Especially with the skits, they pop up pretty frequently but I prefer those over the 3d scenes i think.

Now that I'm thinking back, there aren't many 3D action scenes so it could be that. I guess watching the character stand and chat over and over again is a good way to put the player to sleep.
And I'll just have to take your word on xenosaga lol, idk if i can handle 15-60 mins of cutscene lol

Read faster?

I think the problem has more to do with characters repeating the same stuff.

In Berseria, characters spent a lot of time talking about science, culture, history, etc, and some story stuff on top of that. I felt like I was learning about the world and lore as much as I was the story and characters.

This game? I couldn't tell you **** about the lore, or culture. Except how abusive lords are...

I didn't think that you could skip through the 3d scene text. doesn't change the amount of content being absorbed at once though unfortunately

Same. I have to go through for a second time because I missed sooo much exposition lol. The game play was enjoyable enough to carry me through thankfully.

Never but i've heard the horror stories. That amount of watching without playing is almost unfathomable
