Controls are awful

Just tried the demo on PS4 and god who thought that was a good idea? Attack being R1? face buttons for arts? Why just why thats horrible and I can't even figure out how to do anything. Why can't they go back to the old play style instead of whatever this crap is?

i don't know i didn't had issues of adjusting to the controls right away ? arts Being Square triangle and X felt good because you wanna do them fast ya know ? idk i felt like the controls were well done

What about the B button ? Why is that not used for normal attacks instead ? Or what is it used for ?

did you check to see if you can remap the buttons

admittedly the controls haven't truly clicked yet....takes some adjustment when dodge is R2 and a regular attack is R1 lol...could be possible to switch control options but I'll likely just get used to it how it is.

I just played it and it feels clunky, to flashy and buttons all in the wrong place... looks good but gameplay is bad

Some ppl never played the lasts Tales of ? It was, for the last entry, exactly the same button mapping for artes (except all four slots were dedicated to artes and not only three) : cross square circle triangle. Nothing janky or stupid here.
OP is too old for this ♥♥♥♥ and wanna complain about a game in evolution instead of being stuck in the 2000's.
I played the pasts games (legendia, vesperia, abyss..) it feels horrible today.. The gameplay was clunky, rigid and slow as ♥♥♥♥.
Now it's dynamic, fast and enjoyable.

And as Simon said, the buttons can be remapped if you don't like it. Needed to complain about a problem that didn't exist at all ?

But on a serious note - playing as Rinwell - you have the option to store magic by using the magic assigned button and normal attack. What I did is I got Square for normal attacks, triangle and X for magic that can be enhanced and O for a normal spell. Pressing triangle followed by square isnt that hard. Jesus, I played Tekken some time ago and combos there had you dancing with your fingers on the gamepad.

People are too spoiled...

i like the new set up makes comboing off arts alot easier especially when you attack then use an art to launch a monster then normal attack in the air then finish off with an art in midair
