Then go play a game with zero cringe. I'm sure you have a loooong list of games to play.
Characters tho. They are the WORST anime bunch i ever saw. All of them. They boring. They stupid AF, they completely unlikable. Especially MC and Shionne, MC is just a mannequin, no personality, no depth, even after Plot Twist part. Shionne is typical tsun-tsun, and constant "Girl to be saved", boring and bland. The only character who says sentient things is always met with "how can you be so cold!" "Read the room!" "How dare you!". What are they, a bunch of rebelleionists fighting for freedom, or easily-offended teenagers who think the world is sunshine and rainbows? I see only second, sadly.
And the ***ing hetero-romance, that they practically shove into your face with boot. I get it, people need it (Even thou 3 last Tales of was good without it). But come on, in all Tales of i played, the romance, if there was any - was actually good. Maybe it was because the characters with those feelings was good, was really "persons", not a bunch of cliches without personality.
There's a lot you can do with cliche - you can expand it to be a real person, you can turn it upside down, you can deconstruct it. In Arise they did nothing of above, they just took dummies and stuck labels on them, saying - this is our HEROES! love them! No, thanks. I prefer real characters. Hell, even Asbell or Luke-The-Ambassador is light years better than whole Arise party.
I really tried to get to like the game, to understand characters. But there is nothing to understand. They are devoid of personality, they are badly-written empty dolls. Alas.
All in all - the plot is okay, boring but okay. Your normal Save The World From Bad Guys. The combat is okay, even good at some places. But the most important part (at least for me) - characters - are complete failure.
he does have personality and depth no more or less than most player characters in jrpgs and rpgs.
Calling him a mannequin with no personality tells me you clearly skipped the story and skits.
its fine to not like his personality but to say it doesn't exist? LMAO
I do love Arise so far. The only part that kinda irritated me was the way Alphine talked about Zephyr, like he knew him his whole life or learned so much from him, when they spent like what... a couple days together maybe? lol
Probably why i hated Zestria, that whole game was people who acted super close to people they knew for like 10 minutes haha.
Dude, how about not telling ♥♥♥♥ about people you know nothing about?
I watched EVERy skit, scnece and read every line from start ot finish. He IS a mannequin, and he is empty. This figure is all cliches about The Great Hero trown in one and held together by one trait, that try to resemble personality - love for spice and equipment. He is not interesting, he is bland, he is boring. The NPCs from any other Tales of i played (9 of them) have more personality than this "Hero".
You may not agree with me and it if fine, but do yourself a favor, and stop spewing ♥♥♥♥ about people you dont know.
Another dude who hate my favorite game. All of them have one thing in common - judgemental bigoted pricks, who cant even really explain why they hate game. Poor people, nature was not king to them.
