Is there any way to turn off the voice lines for characters screaming their attack names?
JRPGs really need to let you disable this.

Would be nice for some, Action rpg's especially like Tales Of.
Yeah, unfortunately the only way to do it now is to turn off all voices from Sound Settings.
I love listening to them yell the attack names, but I understand it can get annoying at times and agree they should give you an option to toggle it on or off.
It doesn't really bother me since I'm just used to it from past games, but I wish you could turn off arte callouts but keep the conversational dialogue turned on. Arte callouts don't really serve a purpose in my opinion but I like hearing the party talk to each other during combat. Sometimes the artes drown that out though.

This is my exact stance.
Welcome to "Tales of series" We have a ton of screaming and we don't mind !

Seriously tho, 2 hours into the game and you will not notice anymore.

I had a REALLY hard time with this in Xenoblade Chronicles. But then I saw someone's comment on how it's not exactly a silly game thing, there's actually an in-game lore explanation: it's a way for a party member to coordinate with their team. Like a football player calling an audible. They're calling out their plays to combo with allies in a battle, like that's how magic fights work in a fantasy setting. Arise even has a skit that explains this.

Sounds strange, but thinking of it that way made the callouts much less annoying to me. I still turn down the Voice to ~55, any lower and I couldn't hear the occasional battle dialogue.

Coming up with a roundabout way to explain away or try and mental gymnastics the annoyingness doesn't work for me, haha.

I actually modded the sound files in XBC/X to remove skill shouts so I could still hear party chatter. It was a dream come true! :D
But I like the way they scream the names of the fighting techniques. But I play with Japanese voice acting.

I'm not asking for them to stop doing that altogether! There's plenty of people that like it. I just want the option to make arte names stfu :D
Blahblahblah Tidal Wave
I just find it weird they shout what they're doing. Imagine other games doing this. "Left hand punch!" "Right hand uppercut!" "Left kick!" "Right kick!"

Failed logic. I've played ever Tales since Phantasia on ZSNES back in the day, though I've never finished one. Didn't stick to me like Star Ocean 1-3 did.

Just because people don't like hearing RISING WYVERN over and over and over and over doesn't mean they're new to the series.

Yet most of em actually are, so how is that failed logic?
I'ts really easy to identify who's new precisely because they ask about the battle voices, since they've been there since... ALWAYS?
Besides, imagine taking a jokey comment as an offence as you did.
