The AI is always dumb as a rock in these games, on Hard you have to micromanage everyone yourself half the time which makes battles take forever.
Just play on Normal so you dont get a headache.
There are no difficutly related achievements anyway.
Many just like the difficulty for the challenge, never cared about achievements and having the AI be garbage does not a hard mode make. Shame, though I'm playing without even claiming a single DLC right now and I am wrecking everything. I was looking at the hard setting with serious thoughts..
That said, I've yet to face a boss quite yet, so maybe bosses specifically are a problem. In which case, a bit of character switching might have to be used to alleviate if not negate the problem.
Except now there's no multiplayer, and I guess they didn't put any of the spare budget from that decision into better AI, if your story is anything to go by.
I guess you are new to the Tales series. Welcome to Tales of F the AI
If you played the previous titles, you wouldn't be surprised at all.
I think out of so many of the tales titles, only Heart R and Xillia AI was decent.
I've played most of the previous titles.
The AI has never been this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid before.
EDIT: to put my point more clearly. AI has previously been stupid yes, the AI in Arise however is so utterly braindead that it almost seems designed to actively be working against you at all times. You cannot rely on it to do even the most basic things at any time. This AI is next level stupid.
I'll try that. Right now I have Shionne's strategy set to only heal me when I'm low, and at all other times stay away from the enemy.
And with that strategy, what she actually does is spam basic R1 attacks right in their face, never dodging, rarely healing and always getting herself hit. I pretty much am required to switch back to her every 3 seconds just to stop her ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ killing herself.
