Berseria and Scarlet Nexus got preloads so I don't see why they wouldn't for Arise.

Fingers crossed. With my speeds, (6 Mbps, so ~800 kb download speed) I need a preload if I hope to play it on day one.

When you preload doesn’t it unpack the files or something that takes longer than the initial installation? I’m asking to gauge if I should preload it or just install it when the game unlocks

Depends the machine i guess.
On every preload i did, on release day it took 2-4 minutes to unpack and finish installation and i was good to go.

A pre-load would be nice. Do you think we'll get release-day drivers from nvidia for this game?

Wow 2-4 minutes?? Only pre-load I did was Death stranding and that took longer than the initital 25-30 minute install. I was on a much worse rig at the time though so I'll try it again if the opportunity presents itself, thanks!

He left out a lot of details. CPU and hard drive play a big factor in how fast something installs. As well as the number of files a game has. Some PS3 games back in the day would take over an hour to install because they were installing to a hard drive (HDD) and had 20,000+ really small files, which slows down the transfer rate.

Most games I play now only take a few minutes to install since I have an M.2 SSD. It can take upwards of 40-60 minutes for my cousin to install the same games on his PC with a standard HDD in it.

Yep that sounds about how long Death Stranding took to unpack the preloaded files, 40-60 minutes. I appreciate the additional info, I should be more than fine if that's the case. I will definitely have to test it again as it sounds like it was just my old pc slowing it down because that one experience has ruined my perception of preload on steam.

Pre-load starts tomorrow on 8th. There was an official Bandai FAQ i got from my Pre-order on their website.

Pre-loading is actually slower if you have a stable internet connection of 200mbps or better.

Doesn't matter how awesome your PC is, the decryption will take longer then downloading a fresh copy.

On the other hand, if you have an unstable or slow (less than 200mbps) connection, preload is the way to go.

Wow, that is rough in 2021. For folks like you, I hope they have a pre-load option as well.

It is likely rare, but it was a real shame back when Nioh 2 released on PC without a pre-load option, but the Playstation version did have it.
