what's up with the ending? (warning spoiler)

So i've just finished the game, and what's up with that ending? it gave no clear answers to anything at all.
They did not really explain shionne's thorns and they did not even remove them off her, someone just came in and stole all cores then disappeared without any explanations then the game ends. Is there any sequel/manga/anime or whatever where we can see or read how the story really ends?
so far shionne still has her thorns, alphen still has gaps in his memories.
I don't want to call plot holes just yet (as there are way too many so far) because that may just be missing story that we did not get to see yet.

are you really sure you played the game?
because they actually explained how she got them . her ancestor Naori Imeris performed a ritual with alphen and it failed and the thorns were born from that the curse is now on Shionne Imeris, she can't die because the thorns wanna protect themselves . Also you didn't ended the game if someone stole the orbs then disappeared lol you still have work to do. you still have to run after the red woman who stole the cores

well IDK it felt as if this was the ending. they were just helping a few people and there and not much progress at all.
in any case, sure her ancestor got it, i saw that part. BUT they did not explain how they got transferred to her offspring, how did she even have children with her curse?
isn't anyone who gets close supposed to get shocked ? how did they even, you know, have children?
alot more is not explained yet

edit: also isn't Naori supposed to be immortal as well? how did she die?

yeah no idea about that,it wasn't explained,the curse must move by its own to another body from the member of her family that are females . that was my conclusion but I have no clue so I can't really tell . but yeah you help the few people and then the story will continue don't worry about it

They explain it, it's just that the second half of the game turns into some over the top gainax-esque anime nonsense about fighting god or whatever and most of it consists of basic concepts that are strung together and poorly presented.

You didn't pay attention. Both The Sovereign and The Maiden were made in a lab. Shionne can't die, in a sense that she can't take damage, due to the thorns protecting her, but old age probably isn't part of the equation, since there's nothing to smack. Never in the game it's stated that Shionne and Naomi are related by blood. They only share a name. Which, as far as the lore goes, is as empty as a black hole. Sovereign never existed in name, despite 300 years, nobody questioned it. Moreover, Shionne never even heard of Naomi prior to the 2nd part of the game.

Do you know the name of your ancestors from 300 years ago? Family trees can get quite huge when talking about that many generations.

They are related, it is stated in game and how the curse is going to be passed down to the descendants in the future.

No, for Shionne yes.

The thorns are kept in check by the maiden but it's been a long time now and in Shionne it's breaking through.

At least thats as far as I understood it. No doubt it could've been explained better.
