The music in this game is exhausting.
Every single track is composed to be an epic AF movie trailer soundtrack and it's completely tiring. Games need a balance. The only calm song I've found in the game yet 8 hours in or so is the owl village.

There's one particular track in the second area that I absolutely loathe but the rest of it has been on beat.

What hasn't, is literally all of DQ11's soundtrack, needs to be thrown in a trash compactor. (mostly because it lacks any sense of variety)

To be fair, there isn't a whole lot of calm zones for a calm BGM in this game. Everything everywhere is very tense, so constantly tense music fits...even if it ends up feeling a little one-note.

I personally didn't like the OST to this game very much. Having only beaten it a few days ago, I already don't remember any of the music, and that only happens when it's nothing particularly interesting.

100% truth. Any original song in DQXI is straight trash. The only good songs are remakes from previous games, which luckily, turn out to be like 60% of the soundtrack.

Arise's soundtrack isn't bad, it's just pummeling and exhausting.

I guess this is just an opinion thing, I quite like every song in the game so far, but I am also a very old fan of Motoi Sakuraba in general so yeah.

I usually like "bombastic" soundtracks, especially in games and during combat in games. I don't mind the music in this game at all ... but so far none of it's outstanding/makes me sit up and take notice so to speak, either. It's just there - I don't love it, but it doesn't annoy me either. So, neutral I guess.

I have the music slider turned very low at this point -enough so I can hear it but just barely as background.

I've heard some calmer music when near campfires and certain small areas while not engaged in combat or anywhere near clusters of enemies for a while, but not super often.
