That final story ''dungeon'' is one of the most unfun one i've ever seen (end game spoilers)
I thought the game overall was pretty decent. Obviously not the best jrpg around, but combat is good, graphics is good, story, while not perfect, was okay enough to deal with. I actually enjoy the characers in most cases too.

But holy that final dungeon to the end boss is the most uninspiring boring piece of content i've had in Tales games. Especially because the dungeons, if you can call them that, before the lords weren't even that long. So the entire game the game tells you ''hey our lead ups aren't super long'' just to hit you with that final one that is just endless walking towards the same looking corridors with the same looking ''how many annoying hp sponges can we fit in the room'' enemies without any break in dialogue aside from rehashes of what i've been doing this entire time.

I've stopped during this slog two times. I think i'm nearing the end but jesus, what a terrible final few hours for an otherwise pretty good/serviceable game.

Yes this is a rant. No I don't care.

after the 2nd half begin, it seems game design just went out the window. They throw every plot to the player in a single sitting with too many cutscene and skit without any action or new map/dungeon in between. it's like they ran out of dungeon and enemy design at this point and just rush it out, they can just make the dungeon from the side quest and turn it for the main story quest to make the story pacing more slowly and not rushed

I agree, I guess the final dungeon was supposed to be more of a ruthless gauntlet but when you reach the halfway point my feelings became more like "ok can i just please get through this already". Skits weren't really a problem for me, but the way the encounters changed were.

I played on Hard, so obviously all the enemies had more HP, but I feel the turning point was when you just fight HP sponge after HP sponge constantly. The flying dragon, cloaking dragon, dual asylum demons from Dark Souls, giant Mantis, etc. Since they were hard to stagger and had a ♥♥♥♥ ton of HP and you couldn't finish them off by raising blue gauge, every fight with them felt like they took 3-5 minutes.

When I finally reached the end of the dungeon I turned the game off and fought the final boss the next day because it took me about an hour just to get past those 6 teleporter rooms with loot before the final boss - makes me wonder what level they expected the player to be before entering the final dungeon, or if there was supposed to be another area to explore in between Rena and Lenegis that got cut out.

Oh yeah, the enemy levels had a really big jump there. I play on normal, have done most side quests and somehow was about 10 levels below the enemies while previously I was 1-3 levels below when entering a new region.

Still haven't made it to the last boss.. I tried last night, but after seeing a room with two dragon / lizard things made me save and quit. They aren't difficult to beat, just time consuming and as much as I enjoy the combat the constant fights with HP sponge enemies makes it a chore :/
