Update is being broken into three stages too
Because May, 1st was yesterday, here a short reminder:
Problem is that we live in an economic environment where competition is the main thing ppl need to care about to earn a living. In the first place it is NOT about beeing creative, doing what you really want, beeing productive BUT the need to sell ♥♥♥♥. IF ppl had the time to develop games outside of the need of staying alive, we would see much more and faster development of creative games that inspire rather than need to follow the rules of the market. thank you 4 listening but sadly most of the ppl think they love capitalism while they in reality are just not creative enough to imagine an alternative, which i cannot blame them for because the capitalist propaganda is serious. while the ruling class fears to loose everything, we have a world to win :)
If Demonologist still has scripted events in its next update, I would be more concerned.
I get it.. you need some indicator in a gamist sense... but let's be honest, you don't see your breath at that high. I mean, I can walk around outside comfortably in short sleeves and shorts at 7 degrees, as long as there isn't a cold wind. You don't see your breath normally.
If we want to make it immersive, then maybe making the breath a gradient that gets more visible as your approach 0 degrees would be better... but I understand that temperature has always needed to be a gamist implementation (heating up and cooling would take way too long for a normal game too, so I can forgive slightly higher temps for the breath effect to kick in too).
Love what I see on the roadmap!
I really hope photo, video and recording evidence can move away from "only so many slots" to a "keep collecting them until you get maxed payout". It would change the feel of the gameplay:
- You wouldn't be hesitant to grab a shot/recording in fear of a "sub-par result"
- A single capture could count towards several things at once (2 star interaction AND 1 star ghost, filling both those payouts incrementally).
- Data storage would become FAR more sensible: you have a van and computer... you could easily fit terabytes of storage on site, why "10 shots" or whatnot.. maybe "at a time" for lower-end equipment is fine, but come back to the computer in the van, load them in, then go back should be a sensible option.
Gameplay around evidence capture should be excitedly trying to quickly use the right tool at the right moment, get the best capture you can at every opportunity... then depending on your tier of equipment, run back to the truck to store them, maybe even clean them up (audio recordings, etc), then head back in and grab more until you've got what you can from the mission (maxed out payouts on the different types of interactions).
Lastly, I love that the new models and cctv overhaul are happening at the same time.. does that mean we might see our own models in the captured evidence that update? As prep for the horror 2.0, I can see that being a big factor.. hallucinating your own self doing things on cctv would be pretty cool.
