Remastering Old Maps in Phasmophobia

Hello,

I propose remastering the old maps in Phasmophobia. Updating graphics, improving lighting and shadows, adding new sounds and interactive elements will make them more interesting and engaging.

These changes will enhance the gameplay experience and attract both new and returning players.

They’ve been doing this already. Next maps getting remastered are the farmhouses.

There is no point in remastering them when they plan on remaking them pretty much from the ground up. Other than the general map layout, you can expect the older maps to be eventually replaced similarly to Sunny Meadows replacing Asylum.

I think remakes would work better here. As they have evolved the game, their approach to a good location has also evolved. We saw from the June Dev preview that the farm houses will be more dilapidated allowing weather to leak in. walls with holes large enough to walk through creating different "doorways" that would be too large for a single salt line.

I assume all of the homes will be remade eventually. I feel Tanglewood will probably be the least changed due to it being the most iconic.

But when I make a backup of the game directory and also disable auto update, I still could play the old maps right? And enable update to test the new ones. And when in the mood for old ones again, disable auto update and overwrite game directory with the backup one?

90% sure it won’t work. If you do you risk triggering the anti cheat. You’re more than welcome to try it out though.

Early access games are called early access for a reason. They change in big ways.

The devs are doing their best to move away from stock Unity assets, for multiple reasons, and the farmhouse maps are such assets. This would happen sooner or later regardless of player poll.
