Suggestion for core game loop

I've always thought that the transition from mid-match to end-match (i.e. when ghosts start hunting and how the game handles player death) seems to not really fit with the rest of game loop very well imo.

Why not make the purpose of the end game not just to gather evidence for the type of ghost you are hunting and ticking off certain goals, but to post the evidence on a "social media site" in the game (e.g. booTube or something), and you get paid based on the number of views you get which is determined by the degree and quality of evidence you collected?

Instead of just outright killing you late in a match, a hunting ghost tampers with the evidence you have collected thus far - burns photographs, destroys video, steals notepads and other items you have left laying around, overwrites audio with static for example (assuming you use the spirit box to record audio in this scenario) etc.

If players choose to keep trying to gather evidence even after it has been tampered with, instead of killing players the ghost makes them faint and other players can drag them out of the house into the van (you have to not be carrying anything of course while dragging another player, and if you get caught on the way out you faint as well). If the downed players are left behind, then they are considered dead and lose their stuff.

If this is too much of a departure for what Phasmophobia is, perhaps making it an optional game mode might be an idea.

Anyway, just some thoughts!

Thanks! Some of those system might be a bit hard to implement this late in development, but some of them shouldn't be too much trouble.

I think changing the end game would really improve gameplay, especially for larger multiplayer groups with friends. When a team mate dies in a match, it just feels so disjointed and annoying. There are more stakes if death isn't all or nothing, with a fainting system for example. It gives you more of a chance to correct any errors you made in the match instead of just being taken straight out of the game.
