Ghost hunted at 62% average sanity and changed his age during game, it was Mare, not Thaye :/

I played on Primitive Challenge Mode and I got Ghost Writing, no Fingerprints and no Freezing. I played with my friend and he was in van to look at our sanity. Ghost was pretty active at the beginning of the game, also he ate crucifix at 62% average sanity. I thought it was a Thaye, so i went to Ouija Board to check his age. (I did the same at the beginning of the game, while asking for his ghost room, to use that in case of possibilty that it can be Thaye). His age at the beginning of round was 34, but when I asked after eaten crucifix, it was 35. I took Thaye and go. In lobby it was Mare. What's going on?

Well the simple explanation is you played yourself.

No seriously - the sanity board has about a 3-4 point fluctuation range both ways. So seeing 62% at the time it's pretty safe to say that it was bouncing in/around 60%.

Also a bigger tell is the time you were in the room - if you weren't in there very long, then the Thaye's hunt threshold should still be around the 70% range, even if it supposedly aged only once. That first hunt activity would have been far too low in that case to hard confirm through that alone.

Overall, Mares are pretty difficult to nail down, especially with limited evidence. Not the first time it's happened either, been tripped up a few times myself even.

I know about range on sanity board and it's not the case this time. I was in room all the time, friend stayed in van looking at sanity. Also how this is even possible for Mare to age during a game? Regardless other things :/. I wouldn't be so sure about Thaye if his age hadn't changed...

Well here's the thing - for a Thaye's minimum hunt range to be even close to that of a Mares... it has to age twice, no more... no less.

So the fact that you only got supposedly a one year difference there... taking aside the possibility of human error, which there could be for all I know... and the fact that the amount of years a Thaye actually ages is still not fully understood, that should have been ruled out. Additionally, given they age every couple of minutes... if you were in there for like six minutes total... it should have aged more than twice.

The best way to have told if it was a Thaye would have been to let it hunt a couple of times... see if it was actually aging and thus getting slower. Having the forced Ouija Board helps, but that is not relied on as much because it's normally a random 1/7 spawn

I will just take it explanation, but as far as i know only Thaye can change his age on Ouija Board by any amount of years, even if it's one. Thank you for all answers too!
