As for the footprints - that equates to increased activity... which all ghosts do if you try to speak to it. Yokais I think are more likely to do this in particular, but given they hunt at a higher threshold for talking... it's obviously a double edged sword.
If you're looking for fingerprint evidence - it has to specifically be things like hand prints on doors, or fingers on light switches and keyboards. it's not the first time I've heard of people thinking footprints count too, but I can tell you with certainty that they do not.
