Rather, it's the opposite. Mares can turn off lights or the breaker just like any other ghost..
Mares cannot, however, turn lights On. If you had been paying attention for that 42 minutes for the exact opposite of what you were expecting, you would have found the behavior you were looking for much sooner.
Wait a sec. Didn't the dev said in one of the patch notes when they rework the ghost that Mares has tendency to turn off lights/breakers? And sorry but, I rarely get a ghost that turn on any lights already, in 10 games only 1-2 ghost will actually turn on a light. So if I was looking for that I would still have been taking a huge chance.
Does your non-Mare ghost turn on lights like in almost every game? Mine doesn't.
- Mares now have an ability to turn off lights immediately if a player turns them on.
- Mares now prefer turning off lights as an interaction.
- Mares now prefer light bulb-breaking ghost events
None of the above happened.
As per wiki (albeit fandom, collected from experienced players with detailed info from the devs, such as Insym, and tester such as Psycho)
"A ghost turning on the light directly eliminates the possibility of it being a Mare. On the other hand, any ghost may choose to never turn on a light throughout the entire game, so this negative should not be used to confirm the ghost type"
