Avoid hangman tarot instant death by leaving house

I was playing with a friend yesterday on the map found in training (I've forgot the name, but were playing in a private multiplayer server). We found the tarot cards and started selecting them by the front door. After selecting the card, we stepped outside immediately - usually before the animation of turning the card over is completed. I ended up pulling the hangman card for instant death, but I was able to leave the house during the animation of turning over the card. As a result, I escaped death.

It seems like avoiding some negative effects can still occur by leaving the building before they take place, in this case, instant death. I'm not too sure if it's the animation duration that caused this or some other issue allowing me to leave to avoid it.

- Only tried this one the first map mentioned above. Haven't tried to replicate it yet, but I'm sure it could be.
- When picking the tarot card, we stood barely inside the house. Like, as close to the door as you can be whilst the sound of being in the house is still present. Probably like 1cm inside the door.
