My friends and I think it's lame now, where did the neat spoopy voice go? :/

The spirit box is, in reality, an AM/FM radio scanning through transmissions and having the ghost use snippets to respond. The audio changes now reflect this more authentically.

They are introducing a new Sound Recorder item in the next update and are considering redoing the old sounds in a better quality for it.

where did you learn about the sound recorder?

Cause the community tab only seems to have changelogs/hotfix notes, and the official phasmo twitter is posted on so rarely it might as well be a ghost itself. so if you know a good place to get news on the game, I'd love if you could share, I want to keep myself updated.

It's LITERALLY on the roadmap they posted back in May, the 5th bullet point specifically. Check their Trello if you don't believe me, it's the only version there now (they removed the older two roadmaps), and it's got a timestamp to when it was posted there. Said roadmap is also in a news post here on Steam, in Events and Announcements

As for how I know their potential plans with it - it was a dev message over on Reddit that was passed over here to Steam by another user (sadly I forget where or who)... apparently it was the the same dev who originally recorded the old lines themselves with their partner, and they were sad to see them go.

And I don't watch or listen to anything from Insym... I personally prefer to hang out in smaller stream communities regarding Phasmophobia stuff.
And I've never heard of Holland Hero... so I got no idea who or what you're referring to with that
