Gold Apocalypse Challenge
I'm looking for someone who has managed to complete the Gold Apocalypse Achievement to give me some advice on completing it, if you please.

You could look up content creators, many big ones do it every now and then. Insym for example also gives advice things to do and explains, why he does the things he do.

Alternatively you can also just try to cheese it by always restarting when getting harder objectives (best ones are photo and incense/escape related ones) and then redo it until you get a Deogen.

find deogen, or stalker ghost like banshee/phantom/wrait

I did it before the trophy got added, and then when the update happened i instantly had a deogen so i was like "okay...". As has been said before, you can learn the no-evidence behaviours if you have not already to help you know how all the ghosts behave, or you can simply reset until you have a easy ghost you cannot fail on. The gold apocalypse challenge is either a skill-based challenge, or just a matter of time depending on how you approach it.

Also keep in mind, there are hiding spots that are available even in gold apocalypse all the time, such as the piano in the chapel.

when I did the gold one I kinda just lucked out getting a deogen
my hardest time was with the emf objective because the ghost room was on the other side of the map but eventually after one hunt the ghost did a emf thing right where it ended its hunt

tbh I doubt there really is a way to reliably do the gold apocalypse for anything that isnt a super obvious hunter

The only ghosts that aren't really doable are Jinn (because broken fuse), Mare and Goryo (both due to not really having any easy to detect abilities). Shade is extremely hard to get, since you need to be very aggressive, but not impossible, once you reach its room. And Yurei is quite RNG dependant, but can be done with a paramic.

Obviously ghosts with a different speed or easily detectable abilities are usually way easier to find out and are probably prefered by most people who just want to get the trophy.

Content creators usually get the ghost correct, unless it's the Jinn/Goryo/Mare/Shade/Yurei-combo and most of their deaths happen while going for objectives or the photo.

Hunt for specific objectives. You want objectives that you have to do either way... IE picture, smudge the ghost, escape a hunt... That way you don't have to make a bunch of trips back and forth. I'd honestly probably go tier 1 smudges so the ghost keeps running and moves passed you, since tier 3 makes it stay next to you while you're slow. Make sure you're on single player, and not just doing solo games while in multiplayer, because you won't get credit there.

I think the chapel might be the most ideal spot to have a ghost at. Either that or the front door and just dumping a lot more extra items in before starting. They fixed a lot of the cheese spots for the ghost, so don't expect those to work now.

Well, it was really easy for me. It just took me 2 hours to snipe Deogen xD. I think this is the easiest ghost that you can play against in this mode. He will never catch you unless you stop
walking. Also try to find easy objectives (try to avoid ghost events objective)

I rerolled objectives until I got good ones, and after that Deo was the first ghost I got. I had turned on the stream for my friends and was like "hey watch this" and literally within 5 minutes I completed it lol. I was a lucky mfer.

My first recommendation would be to wait until you've at least unlocked nightvision so you will be able to see around the building, and maybe see certain ghost abilities from afar. In addition, I would recommend using a T1 smudge stick since you cannot easily escape the ghost by yourself, and use a T2 crucifix instead of a T3 for more accurate Onryo tests (plus, a T3 isn't necessary).

Any other equipment I'd recommend using T3, though just be mindful about T3 salt due to its slowing perk.

Secondly, use the Apocalypse 3 preset in the Custom menu, then change ghost events from low to medium. It shouldn't change the 15x multiplier as long as you don't change anything else, and will allow you a slightly better chance at getting a ghost photo.

Third, try to roll for objective more than ghosts. Many of the ghosts aren't too difficult to ID on their own, but getting those objectives and photo are the actual tough parts and it's not worth dying for bad objectives even if you get a relatively easy ghost.

Best objectives (objectives you will most likely complete while attempting):
  • Take a Photo of the ghost. This is mandatory for Apoc whether you have this objective or not, but having it means one less task to worry about overall.

  • Smudge the ghost / Escape the ghost / Repel the ghost. Since you'll almost certainly run into the ghost at some point to get its photo, you'll most likely complete these objectives during your run.

  • Motion Sensor. Pretty easy objective that you can bait the ghost into doing as long as you know where it's coming from.

Decent objectives (not bad overall, but something you may not complete due to circumstances):

  • Getting a Paramic response. Not a difficult one, and you may need it for a Banshee, but if the ghost room ends up being nearby then you may not end up using it, or it may end up being a risk if the ghost detects it.

  • Detect EMF. Can happen if you are close enough to the ghost interacting with stuff, or the ghost happens to emit EMF from an ability, but it is circumstantial and potentially dangerous. You might end up wasting more time with this one than necessary.

  • Candle Blowout. With T3 candle you can wait until the ghost inevitably blows it out while running around, but that's ultimately up to RNG and may require you getting relatively close to the ghost. It isn't the worst objective, you could likely spend more time dealing with this than needed.

Bad Objectives (you are better off resetting):

  • Ghost Event. This requires you being close to the ghost on 0 grace with a tortoise and hare difference in speed. Unless you get very lucky with this for a ghost photo, you should just reset.

  • Ghost eating a crucifix. Similar problem to ghost event objective. You do not want to be around the ghost on 0 grace while you have tortoise speed. Unless you somehow get a Wraith, Banshee, or Phantom, you may as well reset.

Objectives out of the way, I personally would not bother trying to figure out the following ghosts: Demon, Mare, Goryo, Onryo, Shade, Banshee, Yurei, and Jinn. Other than maybe Banshee and/or Yurei, they will likely take too long to figure out, and it is not worth a long run for a ghost with fairly passive (if any) tells. If you find yourself down to these ghosts, you may be better off just resetting to save yourself time (and money), but that is ultimately up to you.

As for tips for surviving, I'd just start by bringing in 2 smudges, a lighter (obviously), and a crucifix. Throw down the crucifix in the entrance then wait out the first hunt to figure out the ghost's location. If it isn't close by and/or a Deogen, then I'd go grab the remainder equipment you'd need for the mission. After that, make your way to the chapel to see if you can hear where the ghost is. Anything after that kinda depends on where the ghost is

It's really just about luck. Personally I got a deo on my second attempt (attempt one was an objective reset) and managed to get all 3 objectives plus a photo in the same hunt. The challenge took me 5 minutes, but other people have experiences where it took them hours or even days. It's all just about luck, so reset often if you get a bad ghost or if it's in a spot that makes your objectives hard.

Deogen makes Apoc of all levels a total trivial joke. As long as you keep moving and dont hide and run into a dead end, it'll will never catch you and you're all set. Pretty much 95% of people who got this was because of the deogen.

They outta update the Apoc cards to tell people how many of each ghosts you actually found in the challenge.
