Spirit Box question

So I just had an easy ghost, or so I thought, I had freezing, ghost orbs and ghost symbol on spirit box I thought good, an Onryo, but no. It turned out it was a Yurei and a Yurei isnt supposed to talk.

Now my question is, Does the ghost symbol on the spirit box when it lights up not count as a ghost having "talked"? I saw a video where a guy explained that it would be a response.

Did I get wrong information or did the game bug out on me?

Sounds like a glitch, you should only get the ghost icon if the ghost is responding over the spirit box.

Always be in the habit of double checking to making sure with some evidences, Spirit Box could have had an event trigger on the moment you asked the question which scrambled the spirit boxs electronics, and tricked your brain into getting a false positive.

In this scenario especially it's doubly important to reaffirm evidence... because that combination you thought you have is one of the two "Mimic trolls", where in addition to sharing two of Onryo's evidence naturally... it produces fake ghost orbs as part of its unique weakness.

If you spoke into the spirit box (or selected a text-only option) and then the little ghost icon pops up, that's a good indicator since you might not have heard the vocalization or to distinguish from hearing a ghost even or something. So seeing the ghost icon is what you want for confirmation.

So while it's possible that it bugged, it's important to ask: did you actually use the spirit box and then it showed up? It didn't flash on when the electronics freak out during an event or hunt?

was there an event? The ghost symbol flickers when electronics get disturbed.

Thank you all! Its entirely possible that there was an event the exact moment of the question. The ghost was pretty active and threw around events that time.
