Is Hantu broken in the event maps?
Me and a friend ran one of the event maps where we had a Hantu, but it caused us to miss guess mimic. We had orbs, uv and freezing, but when we tried testing the speeds of the Hantu it was the same between breaker being off vs on. Unless it doesn't get slowed down when the breakers on, or vice versa doesn't speed up when breakers off, we didn't even see the ghosts breath during a hunt either. But the speed was the same regardless of breaker which I was lead to believe off = speed up, on = slower.

It depends on the ghost room, if it's been roaming or you're in the ghost room it's going to be fast even with the breaker on. Basically if it keeps eventing on you in a warm room, the room will still slowly cool down as long as it's around.

I just had a hantu a few minutes ago and it did slow down and I was able to loop it around the counter in Tanglewood, however it had moments of speed up while I was hiding near the living room and it had been ghost eventing and throwing stuff in that room even though it wasn't the ghost room (it had changed from the baby room to the hallway though)

Hantus speed up from cold. The breaker being on or off doesn't really matter. The breaker being on will warm up the area (And so slow a hantu down), but if the hantu spent enough time in the area it would be cold regardless of the breaker being on or off.

Also note that some of the weathers are pretty warm (sunrise) so the house doesn't necessarily cool down all that much even with the breaker off.

Breaker on: 20 C
Sunrise: 16 C
Clear, fog, : 13 C
Heavy rain, light rain, windy: 8 C
Snow: 5 C

Does not matter...the weather is set to Heavy rain on the event maps. So no warm weather.

That being said, If you are hunting rabbits like Elmer(the hunter that is always hunting wabbits), each time you get an interaction with a rabbit something is supposed to happen and the devs are not talking about it. It might be that speed of your Hantu during that game might have been messed up by the rabbit.
After all they are cousins of Roger Rabbit, do not underestimate them.

PS: Just in case... the ghost only breaths when the breaker is off... I make that mistake myself still due the exitment of trying to find the ghost that i forget about the state of the braker when it is still turned on and rule out the hantu.

It’s not about breaker off or breaker on it’s about cold or not. Cold room = faster, warm = slower. If you had the breaker on the house warmed up and wasn’t off long enough to get cold enough for faster speed. With breaker on to warm up the house it’s incredibly obvious when it moves from its favourite room (since it’s freezing) to another room as you’ll hear it zooming then suddenly being much slower. The other massive giveaway is a Hantu has no line of sight speed up, so see if you can loop it around a table or similar with line of sight, if you can do it forever it’s a Hantu, other ghosts (not including Deo or Thaye) will increase speed over time to eventually catch you, smudge and bail out, a Hantu will never catch you if you keep moving due to no speed up.
