learn how to juke ghost but if its revenant good luck
They aren't actually that much different because the main survival strat is more or less the same - stay in the light and watch your sanity. Find a hiding spot early on and beeline straight there if the ghost starts hunting you.
once you get like one or two evidences figured out, than carry a smudge and a lighter. Thanks when you will most likey be time that they attack and always look for a hiding spot.

doesn't really work if its a deogeon for that ghost walking around objects are usually the best strategy

Try to avoid using the cursed possessions right away, especially on Intermediate when they invalidate the setup timer...

Also be sure to turn the power on ASAP, so that the house starts warming up... which in turn will let you identify the ghost room via temperature quickly

You can safely ignore this - Deogens are hard coded not show up until you've unlocked Nightmare Difficulty, or play with a host who is at/above level 30.

did not know thanks for the info
Once you find the ghost room, you want to put the crucifix in there. That is going to save you a lot of the time. Also keep an eye on sanity. On pro you gain 30 sanity from taking sanity pills, so if you are below 70 you should take them.

If you have level 2 thermometer, use that while scouting out for the breaker and turn it on (turning on breaker will lower the temperature of the room that the ghost is in, while raising the temp of other rooms)

If you don't, do the same, but with EMF to scout out the location while asking things like "can you give me a sign" and listen for activity. You'll get an EMF 2 if the ghost messed with an object like a cup or something.

Don't turn on lights in rooms unless you know for a fact that the ghost isn't there.

As soon as you know what room it is, drop your evidence gear in the room you found it in, immediately bring in a crucifix, and if you wanna play it safe, have one person bring a Smudge stick. Once you use a Smudge stick, you're basically invulnerable for 5 seconds during a hunt. This'll allow you to run and hide (just make sure to turn off any flashlights/electronic based gear)

Try to keep the path to the ghost room lit to help preserve your sanity. Once in the ghost room, you can use firelights to help keep it up. Once you find the ghost room, find a good hiding spot that you can run to that isn't too close to the ghost room. It's generally better to have a longer path with more turns so you have more chances to break ghost line of sight.

For example, on Tanglewood, if the ghost is in the baby room, I like to run to hide behind the end table in the dining room.

You can also help this by placing one of your crucifixes in the hallway outside the ghost room. That way the ghost is less likely to appear between you and your hiding spot.
Sorry for the late reply, Something that no one else mentioned. You can also put the game in friendly-ghost mode and explore maps safely if you want to learn maps in a more relaxed way. Probably unnecessary for small maps but medium or bigger can be hard to learn if you don't have visual cues telling you exactly where you are.

Some people I know aren't fantastic at creating a mental map of places and found in an no-pressure environment where you could safely explore and take note of things, they were able to learn the maps easier.
