Not to sound rude, but uh... you didn't really read his post very well lol.
To OP, you either had a hacker in your lobby or someone played with the cursed possession.
Not quite how it works. The ghost is always present in the map as an invisible entity that moves around. In the shade's case, if you are in the same room as it when it attempts to start a hunt, it will fail the attempt. However, all ghosts roam, leaving their favorite room and visiting other locations in the map. During a roam, the ghost can attempt to hunt, and in a shade's case, will be able to if you are not in whatever room it's in at that time.
Now... back to this game. Instant hunts are not something that shades are able to do. They have the lowest sanity threshold (35%). The only way a shade can instantly hunt is if a cursed item is used. Normally playing with cursed items won't instantly spawn the ghost, so my guess is he picked up a music box and dropped it or pulled a death card from a tarot deck.
