I agree with this. Mostly. I use the thermometer as I go room to room looking for the bone and cursed object. I will give a room maybe 10 seconds and usually that's enough to see the temp start to drop enough to justify giving it attention. If you're a beginner then I am assuming that you are playing amateur level, so the breaker is turned on when you enter. If playing professional, then the first item of business is getting the breaker turned on. It makes a big difference heating up the house to get the thermometer to quickly show a ghost presence. Hope you are having fun with the game.
What also helps is just run in with three sound sensors place them strategically, spread out their radius in the truck (make sure there is little to no overlap) then listen from safety.
Play with ppl who can teach it to you. Also, biggest tip is to get the power on, and whichever room has cold breath after power is on is usually the ghost room. I always start with the video cam in hand to go through the rooms in case i see orbs, dead giveaway on the room. If that doesn't succeed, usually cold breath is the way to locate it once the power is on. Cold breath also works without power being on, but if its snowing, is usually false until power is on.
Hope that helps!
If you find yourself in a room and there's stuff on the floor that isn't usually there--like plates or cups on the floor of the kitchen--then start looking for other evidence as well.
Using a thermo can be fairly helpful. I personally like going in with the video camera, because if it is an orb ghost, you will usually find it extremely quickly and if there is an orb you are 100% in the the right room. It is really about listening and paying attention to your surroundings though.
