Nightmare thrown writing book?
so i have been playing nightmare mode, got the bits of evidence and was ready to start the hunt, but noticed the writing book got thrown. Will the ghost throw the book if ghost writing is the hidden evidence, or will it just not write? (I want to know if i could have put a line through writing to rule out some ghosts or not)

It can still be writing even if its ruled out and throws the book.
IF a writing book is thrown, it means that the ghost will not give you that evidence. This can mean one of two things...

1) the ghost does not have writing as one of it's evidence types
2) The ghost is hiding that particular evidence from you.

If you're playing on nightmare - unfortunately negative information like that is not reliable because of the second reason, so it is never really safe to cross out an evidence type

On Nightmare/Insanity... you should only mark confirmed evidence, and cross out ghosts due to noticing certain behaviors (a common example is that an Oni cannot use the "airball" event, so seeing one happen rules it out), or because certain ghosts cannot hide certain evidence types due to having unique interactions with them (eg, Deogens cannot hide Spirit Box due to their unique "heavy breathing" response)

aw right, thanks, that answers my question.
The upside of it in Nightmare is the pseudo "ruling out" of evidence, in that you know you don't have to bother checking it later down the line and can focus on what it will give :)

Some ghost have some evidence as mandatory tho that can't be hidden. So knowing them might help too

None of them are Writing tho, so that doesn't relate to this as much.
