Licking/Slurping Sound (help?)

I don’t understand what’s causing this or why, but I constantly hear an absolutely disgusting slurp/lick sound whenever someone uses global chat that absolutely fills me with a wild, irrational rage. lol. I understand that the noise should occur when someone pushes the PTT button and then they release it, but it seems like I hear the sound effect WAY MORE. Like maybe it’s constantly being triggered by another player or I’m in a feedback loop??

I wish I could laugh it off, but I find myself seeking ways to modify this sound effect, avoid or disable it somehow. It’s horrible. Why would a walkie talkie do this?! Is that how real walkie talkies sound?!

Real radios listen all the time (unless when being in sending mode) and when nobody sends anything, then there's some static noise from like background radiation. They usually have a squelch, which suppresses this noise, but you might still have some noise until it falls below the threshhold.

For video games that could obviously be completely removed, however it's usually kept in, since it on one hand sounds cool to most people and in Phasmo it also indicates, that you're currently using the radio, which attracts the ghost (so that you know that you've accidentally pressed the wrong button).

Now i can't tell if it's bugged for you without hearing it. If you don't have a clip, then it's up to you to compare it through YT videos.

If you're playing with friends, then you could ask them to rather play through discord instead of the ingame sound or maybe to not use the radio at all.
